I recall LMS last winter when they came out with the V7 CW TUNE because of the issues our cars were having with hesitation due to the winter blend gas, back to sub zero temps i would personally return the car back to stock tune for those zero temps, anyway who you going to race??

Lol that's all I have to say. Maybe K&N should change their marketing to winter HAI.

I will just datalog and have Torrie make sure all is good.

It's not about racing I like to enjoy my car even when it's cold.

My car was up to temp however it was sub zero.
And you went WOT?

You say that like I'm a dumbass for doing that? Yes I accelerated to 50MPH at WOT on a warmed up car. Are you implying that should have caused this failure? If so there should be engines popping all over the country, Apparently I am the only one who rods their car in the winter. Well I hope you all learn from me and NEVER EVER FLOOR YOUR CAR WHEN IT's COLD OUT. Lucky that's only 4 months out of the year. Sorry I'm getting a little thin skinned on stupid comments.

Hold on, I just want to ensure I get this. So if your car didn't catch fire it might have been covered under warranty?

The best thing for the OP was the fire.  Ford would've never covered the engine because the car had a tune.  Tunes,WOT, and sub 40 degrees is a recipe for disaster.  Ask anyone that's owned a Lightning.  A lot of times, you won't hear the detonation, but you'll hear the Kaboom.

Where do you get the 40 below? It was below zero but not even close to that.

Dean.... Sorry to have stirred this up.  I got quiet after you informed us that the block was warm.  I go wot in the winter in AZ mountains at -20.

I do have on question.  Regarding the oil leak the guys found rebuilding it... Was it a crack?, gasket?... Did they say?... Clearly they are mechanically competent and didn't see it when they wer replacing burned items.

No worries Mac. He stated that there was an actual hole in the block from when the piston broke. That hole leaked the oil onto the exhaust.

Minnesota resident here and HELL YES I run WOT when I feel like it regardless of outside temps as long as all fluids are up to temperature.  I have been tuned through 2 winters with temps dropping to -20 on occasion and my car loves sucking in that nice cold dry air.  I might be a dumbass for many reasons but enjoying my tuned car in the winter is not one of them.  :)
