In my experience with E-85 in the 2013+ ecoboost, this seems to be correct.

I may just give it a try and see what happens...

Ordering SCT iTSX tuner from Torrie at Unleashed wed. 2/19 .
This  tune will be optimized for my added PPE catless DP's.

Tunes:

91 octane  daily use
93 octane
100 octane Sunoco GT 260 race fuel ....   ( Track Use ) Torrie is going to build a tune for this .

E85 is available in my area BUT  I will not buy it or any other Ethanol blends for personal reasons .....

That would be awesome if the factory left that much room in the timing maps to allow for much higher octane levels but the cars I have tuned have two maps ... High oct and low oct which covers 87-93

just saw this post & you mentioned OKC grudge matches. man does that mean we can look forward to seeing you on TV. they got that reality show on the tube, still can't believe you can show illegal racing on TV. it looks like they take street racing real serious over there. looks like some tough hombres & machines. i was in OKC for a tennis tourn, back in the day & they had a street ride go right past the hotel we were staying at, man was it great, one great ride after another.

I haven't been to a match in over a year with a buddy that runs  his G8 there.
I haven't ran anything in over three years there . I had to sell my 2005 Roush Stage 3 Mustang  due to a messy divorce in 2010.
I'll be back in the loop in OKC with my bud this spring , we've been talkng about it .

Stay tuned on the Tube !

You'll  need to get Livernois to build a tune to optimize the higher octane .
Also make sure you are damn near close to empty and put 5 to 10 gallons of the good stuff in for that tune for the track .

I contacted Livernois to have them build a 100 octane tune and they had one ready for me in two days. I would recommend filling up with the high octane gas before you arrive to the track while running your regular tune to remove the low octane fuel and then load the high octane tune at the track. No need to run more than a quarter tank (3-5 gallons) of the high test as you want to save weight at the track and every pound counts.

Careful of that 116 BMC, I'm betting that's leaded. You would get away with a tank or two but after that the lead adhears to the 02 sensors and eventually kills them. I *think* the Wide Band sensors are more resistant than the older (and rear) narrow band sensors but I've not seen anything concrete on that.

Also a few posters have mentioned that you 'have to be optimized' to get benefits from higher octane and I think it was Frozen who mentioned it *may* hurt performance.  That is because there is LESS ENERGY( in BTU's) in a gallon of 100 octane than there is in a gallon of 87 octane.  One of my race motors is 7.2:! Compression ratio because it is old school and built for 35PSI boost (484 WHP from 2.2Liters 8)) but it wont even idle or run very well on strait 100 octane, just not enough energy in it to light it off...

When I said "may damage" I was referring to exhaust valve damage from extreme temperatures. When you use a high octane fuel you are using a fuel that has a slower more controlled burn. If your   timing map is not advanced enough to take advantage of that what ends up happening is fuel continuing to burn after the compression stroke and beginning of the exhaust stroke allowing a flame front to roll out the open exhaust valve ....that's more heat than the valve and turbine blades of the turbo like and you can possibly melt the valve and damage the turbine blades. Timing maps need to reflect what type of fuel octane you plan on running ....higher octane = more advanced ignition timing

Well I guess the moral here is,...
I won't be adding any high octane without a proper tune.
Maybe I will have to do a track day??

Sorry for digging up a kinda old thread, but I thought it better to add to this discussion that to start a new thread. I've got 90 & 91 octane (also available in non ethanol) and also e85 in my area but no 93 octane. I've also got access to some 100 octane race gas but I really don't want to spend that kind of money. So what I'm trying to accomplish is run a 93 tune in my x sport by mixing with e85. I've read quite a few threads already on e85 and my head is about to explode. Input?
