While driving on freeway other day, my dash blacked out completely. Car lost power and shut off. Luckily I was able to coast over to right shoulder. Once stopped, car started right up. No hesitation, no strain. Drove off as if nothing had happened. Dashed blacked out before I don't recall what dealer said. Since then apparently that dealership changed ownership and most previous repair records are lost, via different dealership. Torque showed dtc codes P1000, and U0100. I had V-link obd reader installed so.....
Next day I look under hood. I see passenger side of engine compartment coated in

. Looks like oil and dirt from a blown seal somewhere. But where? The crap even covered my CAI prefilter.
Dealer tech writer trying to sand from outside. While I agree some sand/dirt is under hood. But it's all loose stuff that blows off. As in stuff trapped in air box.
Still waiting for dealer prognosis. A host of other things being checked. All outstanding recalls, checking PTU, transmission, and oddball noise.
1. Has anyone had engine shut off under load
2. What could be blowing crap inside engine bay passenger side
3. I've heard of hot pipes repairing certain seals from leaking. Could this be from that
4. Could this obd reader be the cause? My last Chinese reader seemingly contributed to dash errors. Now I'm wondering is this new one doing the same again?
