I removed only the third cat.  Sound level went up maybe 5-8% tops.  I can though hear the turbo's spool down now at start up.  Pretty cool.  The car feels like it does spool a little faster. The Corsa system is actually not a cat back because it removes this third cat.  But, it's also a LOT of moola.  Bottom line, a good tune makes 95% of the power versus anything else you can do outside of meth or upgraded turbs.

Yes $ for $ a tune is the best bang for the buck , But if you want more power than what a base tune with mostly stock intake / exhaust can provide you Need to improve on the bottle necks in the rest of the system .

The second best improvement over a tune is Better Downpipes .

Some Folks just Map the way to where they want to end up differently .

MY first Mod was the Corsa exhaust then AirAid then the BIG one .... TCE/Wilwood Brakes .

PPE HotPipes with TIal BOV are ordered and on the way .

I didn't get an order for hot pipes, did I miss something?

Like SW says... Paths to better performance vary in time and order along with aesthetic balance.  I'm still learning.
A lot of understanding about what parameters are, or should be adjusted and their effects is gained from data logging and dynoing at every completed step.  Not for everyone, but I like to understand what I did and not just rely completely on others, even those much more knowledgable. Also keeps me from leaving simple measures on the table and making the tuner's job harder.

Mike... I sold SW the ones I bought from you when you were returning the preV ride to stock since I decided on thermal coating and factory blow off flanges that I ordered from You the other day.

Yup, he PM'd me.
I just let Jeremy know to russle up a new Tial BoV to replace the one he used from the pipes and I need to get an inventory to make sure we're not missing any silicone bits or clamps.

Messaged Jeremy.  Know that story.  Told SW it would be next week anyway.

I guess BigMac decided he wanted thermal coated hotpipes and not just powder coated ones ..
He made me an offer I couldn't refuse !

Friday I have a date to get my resonator put back in.  I'm going to put the third cat back in also.  They are still connected as an assembly.  So, it will be easier.  The half burnt gas at idle is just too much.  Not worth it for 2-3 horsepower.

Maybe when SR gets his SHO back & replaces the injectors, a flow test (actual vs commanded) can be done to compare OEM vs the aftermarket units.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I think, as Tom surmised, that the tunes run a little rich to compensate for AFR at high rpms.  I had about 14.7 AFR while cruising on the interstate last I checked.  Which is fine.  I'll be sticking with stock turbos.  I'm just going to make the most I can from the stock fuel system.

How long did the install take for the downpipe portion? I'm going to have the car in a shop to have a drain installed in the PTU, if its only an hour or so I may just pay to have them installed vs doing it myself. Thanks!

If memory serves an AFR of 14.7 is exactly what the EPA requirements are.

10 bolts in and out (3 front and 2 rear on each pipe).  3 sensors to R&R.  (1 rear, 2 front)... Even with the fitment checking etc we were doing at PPE the R&R took Paul no more than an hour.

See this thread for more detailed info and a few tips:

If possible could you have them or you take pics and maybe a short write up on how it was done ?

I'll be breaking out the Torque Pro in the next few days.  I want to do some testing with the DP's, Stat and 3 Bar.  We just got deluged with a wintery mix today so hopefully it will dry out soon.
