I have owned the MGP caliper covers for another vehicle and I was not very impressed with the build quality. The paint ended up peeling off from them in less than two months. $200 just seems like a lot of money for four pieces of stamped and painted sheet metal. I would either pay to have the calipers powder coated, which will be very inexpensive
I'm curious, did you contact MGP about the problem with the paint peeling?  If so did they do anything to resolve the problem.  I would not have been happy if I had paint peeling in two months after purchase....

I am not going to get covers or paint but I will be giving my calipers a good cleaning this spring.  I have painted calipers in the past.  Some older cars used to have the ugly bronze color calipers.  I would paint them with a dark (black) hammered metal.  The ones I have now are a very nice silver.
Boy Dave, with the new wheels white covers with black letters would look great on your car, or maybe black covers with silver lettering...the possiblities are almost endless, the combos that would look sharp with your car and wheels, I could go on and on and on!

"..and from my experience MGP has excellent customer service if you need help."
Unless the paint peels after two months of installing them and they do nothing to replace them like what happened to me. Powdercoat, powdercoat, powdercoat!!!!

GEEBUS!! I did not know this would be this tough to decide!! so if i was to paint them.. is the spray better or the brush on stuff?? oh the decisions.. and how about powdercoating the MGP covers?
i have looked at mine now after having the car for 2 weeks.. haha ya I don't really like the stock color.. I have till the snow melts to decide tho!! when I put the summer wheels back on!

I don't think white or silver with black SHO covers would look bad at all.  I will have to review this again in the Spring.  (I don't want to have to use spacers either.)

There is a caliper cover in a kinda pearlescent white...think they call it satin white... might match the platinum white?

I understand not wanting to use the spacers (only needed on the fronts), but they are only 3mm (same thickness as my summer weather wetsuit.).  I don't have any arguement for or against the spacers, but you can't tell they are on and they've never presented any kind of problem on my car...you can not see any difference from the front to the rear, they don't really extent the wheels enough that anyone has ever noticed. Not trying to convince or discourage anyone, because I was very leary of using them, and it hasn't made any difference with them on the front.

A lot of after market wheels do not cover the wheel mounting face as fully as the stock wheels do.  I had this problem before.  My new wheels have left some of this face exposed and I will have to do something.  It is making me think that some of the spacer will be exposed.  I painted the mounting faces on my Impala silver and it came out pretty good.  If the spacers are silver (or black), no problem.  If they are brass colored, problem.

See your points Dave... Not high on my list.
But... By 15-20mph my wheels become invisible except the caps and outer bright rim on the tire... Not trying to sway opinion, just my thoughts.

Yeah, It's a pet peeve.  Like the ring of rust on the rotors outside the contact area.    I can't stand it!  I've painted that before too.  LOL

dave:
my spacers where silver. so no big deal. like mark said where real slender, actually my guy just put them on, might not have needed. you like your car not as loud as mine, so maybe white & paint rotor hubs white if can match car color which is tough. on second thought maybe silver then don't have to worry about matching. You know me I'd do them in red!!

The spacers are silver, I know that the stock wheel covers them completely...if I get a chance I will measure their diameter..FYI.

Dave, If I remember correctly the spacers were only needed if your car needed the early brake TSB performed (mine did). I am sure MGP will be able to inform you if you need the spacers if you drop them an e-mail. I'm thinking Mike is correct that you may not need them.

Mike, you may have struck on something there.  I was just taking a close look at my wheels.  In between the lug nuts in the "V".  The spacers may actually solve the coverage problem.

Mark, I might see how the spacers do even if I don't need them.

Just thought of another problem while putting this post together-I have hub centric rings and wonder how they will relate to the spacers and if they are those spacers made for two different lug spreads.

BiGMaC

Or consider having some machined in the sam diameter as the hub... the the whole "rusty hub" preblem is solved.... I hate them too!
