2013 + 14 Caliper covers

I personally don't like the look of the callipers as they come out OEM.
I am not a fan of the covers, but they are a good solution to look cleaner and I think it's a step in the good direction. It would be cheezy indeed to have Brembo written on them, but nobody is doing that.
I wanted my callipers to be painted in red while they were redoing my wheels in tuxedo black, but they refused for security purposes (?!?)...
I would like to dig further on the possibility to have them powder coated. Anyone did it?

Believe me there are a ton of mods I've seen that I don't care but I really don't see any reason to knock something that someone does to their car, especially if they like the look. 

This guy does whatever he wants to his car and thinks it looks good too.

All kidding aside. how do they attach.  I've just never used caliper covers and don't want to take my wheels off to find this out.  Couldn't find install instructions on the website.
   
What is the standard method used? 
Does it create a problem for the mechanics when I get my brakes done? Are they liable to damage them?

They attach to the top and bottom of the caliper with a stainless clip and then there is a small nut that attaches the cover to the clips.  They don't create any problems, it only takes about 3-4 minutes to install or remove them.  It would be hard a mechanic to damage the covers since they are aircraft grade aluminium. My mechanic has never complained about them and he has had to remove them at least 3 different occasions to do the required state inspection.

I felt like I needed to chime in here to save anyone from wasting $200 on these things. These will eventually heat and warp, causing them to rattle. If you want to spice up your brake calipers I suggest doing it the right way, also cost is less than $50.

1. Go buy Dupli-Color Brake Caliper Paint Kit or Dupli-Color Engine Enamel
2. Take off your wheel, clean the brake caliper
3. Tape off/place a bag around your rotors and other components in the area
4. Apply 2-3 light coats
5. Apply custom made decal (You can get SHO and TAURUS or whatever, link below)
6. Apply 2 coats of Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Clear

Enjoy your factory looking performance calipers and not a thin piece of metal that most likely is trapping heat. Also for the record, most brake caliper paint kits (I know Dupli-Color is one of them) use ceramic in their paint which actually has a real world effect on reducing heat.

Mine have been on since April of 2011...they haven't warped and do not rattle, maybe before you say what they will do you should do a little research.  As far as I am aware no one here has had a problem with warping or rattling when they are installed correctly.  They are made of aircraft grade aluminium and are a lot less work then painting and a nice alternative to painting.  Also the lettering is NOT a decal it is engraved/stamped into the metal.  Lastly my covers look like new and have been on going on 3 years.

Folks either like caliper decoration or not...same with covers... personal decision I think.

I am likely going with black MGP caliper covers with silver engraved "SHO" to match the theme of my car as a brake kit is a while in the future for me.  I would worry about overspray (I am a paint finish freak as folks will tell you) and don't have the needed downtime to paint calipers this way, although I am sure it works well.

I have owned the MGP caliper covers for another vehicle and I was not very impressed with the build quality. The paint ended up peeling off from them in less than two months. $200 just seems like a lot of money for four pieces of stamped and painted sheet metal. I would either pay to have the calipers powder coated, which will be very inexpensive or I have been thinking about trying a set up similar to this:

I am not going to get covers or paint but I will be giving my calipers a good cleaning this spring.  I have painted calipers in the past.  Some older cars used to have the ugly bronze color calipers.  I would paint them with a dark (black) hammered metal.  The ones I have now are a very nice silver.

Sorry, I can't let this go....MGP claims that the calipers actually reduce the heat...I can't prove or disprove that statement, however it does seem that MAYBE the larger aluminium surface area of the caliper MAY help disappiate(sic) the heat quicker...again MAYBE.  Also painting the calipers does look nice but in my experience eventually the paint either discolors or begins to peel so it has to be redone to keep it looking nice...and decals will eventually peel/curl because of age/heat.  This doesn't seem to be a problem with the covers, but mine are the natural aluminium color, so I can't really address how the paint holds up, but again, no one with them seems to have had any problem. (Although, I also haven't seen anyone complain about their painted calipers giving them a problem.) So, again if you don't like them, that's fine, but to say the caliper covers are not worth the cost is off base, they are well made, thicker metal (then I expected), and from my experience MGP has excellent customer service if you need help.
