so I took my SHO back to the shop that put in my new Ford long block and EBP billet upgrade turbo centers. The car has 6500 miles on the new set up with Unleashed base 93 tune, haven't had time to datalog it yet.

So I smell oil here and there and they found the HPFP gasket is leaking a tad. Easy fix. They also find a small oil leak around the rear turbo. I see the oil but cant tell where it's coming from. It appears to me coming from the intake exit pipe above the rear turbo.

We pulled off some of the intake pipes and found oil inside basically all of the intake piping. Now I notice the oil smoke out the tail pipes and its pretty wet. I never noticed low oil on the dipstick but it's consuming its own oil somewhere, The car runs strong but now I'm paranoid this issue could have cost me the last engine, as I recall it had oil all inside the intake when I pulled my intake hose off the throttle body, and changed the 2 bar sensor.

Any suggestions ? they're wanting to blame the 2 new turbo seals or maybe just 1 turbo oiling up both intake pipes. that's too unlikely for me that both or even one is bad already.

I'm lost, wife is pissed :(

Back side valve cover PVC thing is clean but the front has oil all in it. I guess the front valve cover only has a baffle on the inside of the valve cover ??

Checked the rear valve cover?  Is it updated?  Ford replaced the PCV valve/separator components in the new design.  Works much better.

Check shaft play on the turbo, if no play then start checking the inlet and outlet oil lines for blockage/issues. There's no real "seals" in a turbo go bad, if you do see shaft play we'll get the turbo in and taken care of.

that's what I told them. Thanks Mike. That just doesn't make sense to me 1 or both would be bad already.

my new longblock came with plastic valve covers and a different PVC but I wanted to keep my metal valve covers so we switched them out. Plus as I recall something with the new PVC wouldn't have matched up to the existing hoses so we just kept the original valve covers. It doesn't appear to be filled with oil but I can see a tad burn on start up and its al inside the intake piping (hopefully not pooling inside the intercooler ??) Catch cans are designed to catch blow by not actual motor oil right ?

Oddly some of the oil appears to be coming from somewhere inside the intake piping and its also getting outside the intake piping and dripping off the bottom of the rear turbo also ?? Does that make any sense ???

Loose clamps are a common problem with the piping in the turbo tract.  Split hoses at the clamps as well.

But really, I would try replacing the pcv valve and separator first.  Not exoensive or difficult.

that's on the back valve cover right ? that hose goes directly into the upper aluminum intake behind the throttle body not the plastic intake pipes where all the oil is.

If i'm reading your post correctly It sounds like your issue started right after replacing the newer style composite valve covers with the previous aluminum valve covers correct?
The Newer style long block with Composite valve covers have an integrated PCV System totally different than your previous longblock!

Is there a Crankcase Pressure (CKCP) Sensor in Fresh Air Hose ?  P. 133 Below!

Please post some pics of the area in question! Thanks!  Z

yes I put on my old metal valve covers on the newer longblock that came with the black plastic valve covers. The PVC thing on the back passenger side valve cover was a different design yes. The PVC nipple location was different also so that was even more reason we used the original metal valve covers on the new long block.

I don't know that this issue necessarily started with the new long block, and valve cover swap, it may have been happening previously that I don't know. That engine did throw a rod but it was hurt and ticking for a good 70k miles with what was probably rod knock.

let me find pics

also the hose from the rear PVC going to the metal upper intake after the throttle body didn't seem to have oil in it ???

could oil drip externally from the intake piping due to bad hose, or clamp and not have a vacuum or boost leak ? The car still runs great and pulls hard.

I think you need to correct the front Crankcase Tube Elbow,Vent Tube, Connector in order for your front cleanside to function correctly!
It probably explains the excessive oil buildup you have by the front valve cover location! plus your probably a quart low on oil! please make sure to check the oil level is nice and full.  Z

what the heck is that ??! Ok I'm looking at the PDF now. I missed it earlier.

If I used both the same valve covers that were on the previous original engine what changed ?

actually the oil level has been fine but I'm certainly going to check it now. I'm on my third synthetic Mobile 1 oil change already at 6,500 miles.

There is an updated PCV Oil Separator system as per TSB!
