So I picked up a DayVue 8" screen protector for my '14 SHO's SYNC2/MFT screen based on the advice of other Ford owners. I noticed a rather deep scratch on the screen, probably from this past winter with a gloved hand or something. I figured a screen protector is worth a try at masking it somewhat, but no dice.

Anyhow, the DayVue is a glossy screen protector (the matte one was reported to somewhat distort the image). It doesn't interfere with the image quality, but might glare a bit more under direct sunlight? I felt the extra protection was worth it, because these screens aren't cheap...

Applying it was basically the same method as applying a protector for a smartphone. Would I recommend it? Sure. Is it mandatory? Not really, assuming you're careful.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!
