couple more notes..

i cant remember off hand for flex/mkt but i know the edge has a radio transceiver module inside the headliner it's a 1"x1"x8.5" plastic antenna usually about 12 inches in from the liftgate. I want to say the flex doesn't have this but it's been a year since i was working on them for a retro program. other models of the rtm are the same 1"x1" but only like 4 inches long. this reads signals from your keys and the TPMS sensors.

22-way connectors to headliner harness in left and right A-pillar. 2011 might be a different style connector/different #of pins.

also for home diagnostics i can highly recommend a combination of scantool's obdlink MX bluetooth ($100) and the android application forScan lite ($5). I can't program but as far as reading codes, communication over CAN lines, codes for different modules, ABS, even your liftgate module i can monitor PIDs on my phone. I've done it for my neighbors EGR/EVAP on an 02 mazda tribute. I'd say for $105 i can do probably 70% of what IDS can. The MX can pull data from all modules on the CAN network, and reset each modules DTC's individually. or clear all

if the makers of the forScan app somehow incorporate a way to retrieve as-built data, i have no doubt this combo would be just as powerful as IDS

You likely already know this but for the purposes of the group. The PC version of ForScan can read and write as-built values. For an extra registration you can also program keys. Still does not do everything IDS can but it handles MOST of it.

Well if it does have something to do with the HL then i hope ford is smart enough to see that. Also, thanks much on the info about Mx bluetooth, i def gonna be looking into that.

So the answer is in. Turns out its the steering wheel angle sensor. It starts when they unplug it. So i said i want my old pcm back in as im not paying for that then. Ford said that they wont because the old one has corrosion??? Ummm..no. Im not paying for that new pcm when that wasnt the problem. I told them im coming to get my car as u can drive without that sensor. Oh my. This has been a headache. It is ok to drive without that sensor, correct?

Steering angle sensor!!!IDK .Here are some codes related to that and would make certain that they verify the issue/concern before accepting the vehicle .  Z   DTC C1B00:2F (Steering Angle Sensor: Signal Erratic) - If the signal is calculated to be outside the expected range, DTC C1B00:2F will be set. If the tie rods (inner or outer) have been incorrectly installed or if the vehicle has sustained damage to the EPAS gear and/or associated steering/suspension components, DTC C1B00:2F may set.
DTC C1B00:62 (Steering Angle Sensor: Signal Compare Failure) - If the calculated signal does not match other sensor input, DTC C1B00:62 will be set.
DTC C1B00:64 (Steering Angle Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure) - The PSCM calculates an absolute steering position offset based on several inputs, when the steering wheel compensation message from the ABS module matches or exceeds this calculation, the PSCM sets this DTC. Torque steer compensation is suppressed for the remainder of the ignition cycle in which DTC C1B00:64 is set.

Possible Causes Inner tie rods
Steering gear internal failure.
PSCM internal failure
DTCs present in the ABS module.
ABS module HS-CAN bus concern.

Diagnostic Aids When DTC C1B00:2F is set, the PSCM will transmit an invalid steering angle message over the HS-CAN bus.
When DTC C1B00:62 is set, the PSCM will remove steering assist, and enter into a manual mode and transmit an invalid steering angle message over the HS-CAN bus. The PSCM will also send a message to the IPC to display the POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT message in the message center.
DTC C1B00:64 indicates a possible measurement or calculation error between the PSCM and the ABS module. Torque steer compensation is suppressed for the remainder of the ignition cycle in which DTC C1B00:64 is set. This DTC is for information only. Do not install a new PSCM for PSCM DTC C1B00:64

When i asked how they verified it they said that when they unplugged the swa sensor it started right up. Im thinking i need to take my car to a better ford mechanic. So reading all that, it seems like driving without that sensor plugged in could cause more problems? Such as steering assist lost? The guy at ford said the only problem id have with driving without that sensor would be a trac off.

IMHO if the car starts up just pay the Diagnostic fee and look for the nearest Lincoln Dealer cause they usually have a better overall knowledge on this platform.....something is not right and best of luck to ya and keep us updated.  Z

look for someone who can do an ECU reset on the PSCM I do it with DET at work. steering angle can be reset with IDS if the sensor is still functioning properly.

As far as I know, the Steering Angle Sensor is behind the clockspring.  Is it easy to get to just the connector without depowering the SRS and taking all the other parts off?

Ok so heres where we stand. I told ford to put my old pcm back as i think it wasnt the problem. They told me they would have to charge me another $400 to put old pcm back and reprogram. Another $400 for their mistake!! So i said "look, just quit touching my car. I will come pay the $1600 u want for new pcm even though it didnt fix my problem. $1600 for u to tell me you unplugged the swa sensor and it started, and im bringing this whole thing to the bbb." i cannot believe the way these ppl have treated me. $1600 to tell me its my swa sensor???? Cmon. And they want me to just eat up that bill like its nothing. Um no!! So im on my way now to pay them the $1600, get my car, all paperwork,  and im making a report because this is crap.
