My question is... Why are these things so damn expensive? It's just 2 pipes with a couple bends in them... 1k for downpipes from ppe? Really?? 100$ per hp.. Prob cost 250$ to make these..

Sent from my iPhone
The pipes are $760 on ecopowerparts.com + shipping. :)
Less exensive than any other downpipes AND 5" care amazing cats that supported 600WHP on my Flex.

I think I will do catted, just because of the hassle of inspection and the stink of un burnt fuel. Did you do a before and after at the track?

Just an FYI - I have been running the un-catted PPE version with a Livernois 4+ tune for almost a year and there is NO "un burnt fuel smell" - none, nada, nothing. Once the grease burnt off the new pipes you could not tell anything had changed via smell OR tailpipe output.....

What about inspection? Do you have emissions ?

Ceramic coated they look nice

Rich

I agree, the ceramic coating definitely is a nice touch!  Looks great and will hold up longer to our harsh Michigan weather / roads.

We are not saddled with emissions testing here so cannot comment on that. Only difference was the improvement of performance :)

I am just not sure about emissions.. They don't do a sniff test in my area but I believe it has to have a visable cat. Not sure if just having the 3rd one counts

Gray Brick

My Flex has uncatted pipes and there is occasionally white smoke and a slight smell.

Well worth it though!!!

Likely they will want to see the cats on the DPs with a CARB number engraved.
