Yes and no, LOL. You can do the same mod to the Stock HID system your also. However you really can't use the OEM ballasts. The SHO uses a D3S bulb and ballast that goes with it. The igniter is attached to the base of the bulb and not in the ballast. You might be able to modify a D2S projector to accept the D3S bulb, but that would be a PITA. The way I would do an HID car would be to either pick up a pair of Halogen projector assemblies and use a OEM or Aftermarket ballast for a D2S bulb. Or use the HID assemblies and not use the OEM ballast and bulb, and pick up a kit like this. And bypass the OEM system altogether. The nice thing about using a set of Halogen assemblies you can pick up a pair of them for around $350 to $400. Take your time doing the retro, keep the OEM setup in the event you sell your car you can put them back on the car and sell your retro setup. My convert cost about $800.00 for everything and I have a set of extra assemblies that I may sell. BTW your HID assemblies are going for $450.00 to $500 each on eBay with ballasts and bulbs. You could do the retro and then sell yours on eBay and make a profit and still have a better HID system than stock!

Hey BigPelo, be careful running 50W in the halogen reflectors. Unless you are using a decent quality bulb you might cook the reflector bowls. I have read about it on the hidplanet forum. The cheap Chinese import bulbs emit too much UV and will yellow the reflector bowls over time and the will look dimmer. Get at least the Morimoto XB35's, Unless of course you do the upgrade

It's a german kit, not cheap. I still want the upgrade. I already have a D2S kit of ballasts capacitors and bulbs to put in the EvoX-R projectors!

Now, 60w seems like a lot to me. You might need to connect ballasts directly to the battery to have enough juice?

You should be ok with those, they are halogen not hid. The oem bulbs are 55w halogen or HIR. Same difference. So 5w shouldn't do anything. 55w HID put out much more light than a halogen bulb. And put out more uv radiation. That's why the good ones put a uv coating on the bulbs.
