PP SHO vs non PP SHO/Flex - TC full shut off

So what is the difference between the PP SHO to allow the ability for traction control to be completely turned off. If anybody has any service manuals or other Ford data to see what the differences are. Maybe it could be as simple as hooking up a switch or changing a module.
Let me know if anyone knows anything.
Fuel and AWD control are my big to do's this year.

This may be something Torrie or other tuners can answer.  Other difference between SHO PP & Non-PP is axle ratio.  3.16 vs 2.73.

EB Flex has 3.16 but also weighs 400 lbs more, so perhaps Ford feels that totally turning off TC on Flex would cause greater AWD failures.

Lastly... The PP may have extra profit built in to handle extra warranty issues.

I found that when I wasn't running W/M that my ET's were equal or faster with TC on.  Later when I added 75% Methanol, I did better with it off, but was negligible. DR's on front worked better with T/C off, at least in my instance.

With my latest tuning I'm able to spin the tires from a 15 roll so hard that it shuts down the power every time.
I asked Torrie to look into it but he said there wasn't any way to turn if off completely so I asked him to check with SCT.

Back when this was happening to me in 2011, Torrie told me the same thing.

Darreli who has a  2010 PP SHO has also experienced it, though he may not have had his T/C all the way off at the time.  We attributed it to our Conti DW tires being hard when it was around 40 deg.  Obviously, the more power you make, the more FWD spinning you will experience.  That's why I feel the best option ( not perfect though) is slicks on the front and reg tires on back.  If you can get both to spin some, the T/C system won't shut you down.  It is the relationship between front wheel RPM's and rear wheel RPM's that causes system to Abort....

Also, if you could somehow get the RWD to accept more than 150 lbs torque, that would also slow this from happening.  Maybe Ford will beef it up in future EB (FWD based) platforms.

I wouldn't do slicks in front and regular tires in back.  The slicks are going to get taller as you go down the track and your rpm between front and rear is going to be off.  In addition to maybe freaking out the ECU, you also will have different overall gearing ratios front and back, which COULD result in binding, at least it would with a traditional 4x4 in 4wd mode.

Oh, I almost forgot.  I know that Livernois says that their own programmer has access to more parameters than the SCT hardware and software does.  I don't know if this is true or not, but you might check with them and see if their tuning  suite allows for any other modifications to the TCS system.

I know in my Mustang, it was a simple switch that needed to be changed in the tune to totally disable the TCS permanently, but it just isn't that simple on these cars.

Livernois software that doesn't use SCT Programmer may indeed have more parameters.

I asked this of Torrie.  Thought he told me that this wasn't true, as far as tuning, but maybe for other things...  We need to ask him...

I have a 2013 PP and it seems like when I turn it "all the way off" I'm actually turning off AdvanceTrac.

I can get my stock car to slide a bit with it all of the way off. But when its on, it'll stop itself and act as if it's shutdown to regain traction and then go again.

I've talked to Livernois and SCT quite a bit, traction control or advance trac can't be turned off via programming. Long term I'll look into what module does it and purchase a 2013 PP module to see if I can get it to plug and play. The F150 guys were more adventuresome than us and was able to change out the tranny controller for some controls to work.

I'm hoping I can buy the PP transmission control module and swap it out with my Flex to get all those modes on my Flex.
We'll see!
:)
I like this thinking it's out box!!!! Way to go 4DR.
Does anyone know where the 2013 SHO PCM/ECM is located on the chassis? I have looked around and cant seem to find it. If someone were to swap the control module out, what would be involved to get the engine to crank up after swapping. I know on the sn95 mustangs you just had to have the keys and cluster programmed/married together. Any thoughts on this?

Well 9 days late. I think the PCM is located in the middle of the car just under the wiper cowling. If you take the tabs off and pop the cowling up you should be able to see some big electrical connectors and the PCM. Not sure if they moved it though. Most old Ford's had it in the passenger side firewall.

If you replaced it and you have a pre-2013 I think you just need someone with Ford IDS and VCM to hook you up. I think PATS is still in the PCM for Pre-2013, but I may be wrong. Those modules have to communicate correctly so I honestly don't know what it would take in the newer cars. In the older cars (not a gen 6 taurus), all you need to do is match the keys with the PCM.

My hunch is with a newer car it will require you to download the build data from Ford for that VIN and it will just update the new PCM to the specs of the old one. Not worth swapping in that case. Would be easier to just compare build data and modify the original PCMs build data to match the car's you want.

I bet as far as the advanced Trac. All it is, is the button. Unless there is a specific part number for different trans modules. Though I would think that would plug into the body control module. Makes more since to produce one part and the simple addition of a wire harness and button or switch is all it would take to make it work or not at the customer level.

Its not the switch. Its in the module build data for the abs/tcs unit. I finally figured it out using the build data from a 2010 pp sho, then doing a programmable module installation which wrote the vin on it and everything jived except the acc. I got a fault for that but i can turn advance trac off now. So its reverted back to stock for now. Apparently you can't have a PP car with ACC?
