So I decided to do some looking into intake valve cleaning. There are some DIY kits available on the net. But not for the EB. A local shop that now offers it quoted me $1500 for the service??? There must be a better option. I wonder if the bmw kits can be made to work with the EB? The kits can be had for under $500.00.

What kits do you speak of? In my other DI car, it was a walnut media blaster and some denatured alcohol.

Exactly, I just spoke to them on the phone and the tech I spoke to said that it could be made to work on the EB engines. The advantage to the adapter is that it doesn't make a mess. You could get it done perfectly in less time. And there is little danger that the media would go elsewhere.

Should, if the buildup is mild, and the product is used as a regular maintenance item.  Again, the concern being not ending up with chunks floating around in the system, but rather a combustible liquid mass well short of hydrolock.  And please remember to check spark plugs/change engine oil afterwards!!!

I was reading the how to use directions, they want you to use it in small 1 sec spurts.  This should combat hydrolock.  Sounds like it should work.

There has to be a cheaper one than that tho.

Just a food for thought for one vendor, or anyone, why not buy this tool for bmw, and modify it to fit 3.5 ecoboost engines. Then, rent this tool. For example the person renting pays for shipping to and back to the renter, puts a deposit of $500 down, just in case the person that rented it does not get their tool back and therefore can keep the money for the tool. When the tool is returned back to the renter, the renter issues $499.99 back to the individual that rented the tool. Transaction complete, and the tool is rented to a different individual.

I have an appt thursday at my friendly dealer to perform an induction cleaning and after that process to have an oil change,will definetly share and update any findings on the topic.  Z

eBay has 5 gallon media blaster tanks that look exactly like what that company has for $75... good possibility harbor freight has them for the same or less.. That, and a really good shop vac and the liberal use of some padded blankets to cover as much of the engine bay as possible could be just as good as that fancy tool. I may check this option out next week when I install the new injector.

Just be sure you know what TDC is, how to achieve it, and use only the walnut shell blast media.  Don't need gunk in the combustion chamber, nor pitting on any surfaces anywhere.
