A tune is only going to make it worse. LOL. If you have hard time with throttle management stock, you will never keep good numbers with the tune hahaha ;)

Believe it or not, tunes have actually improved highway mileage over stock rating (1-3 mpg).  City mileage is not affected much tho.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

With the small snails it doesn't take much to get into boost. And therefore higher fuel consumption.  Try changing to synthetic oil very soon.  And use your fuel economy gauge to help you learn the throttle amount that increase fuel consumption.

I'm not sure at what milage the car is "broke in" but I do know after I changed my RDU, PTU, and engine oil to synthetic I did see a milage increase.
13' SHO, Non-PP, Tuned by Torrie, Meth injection, 3 bar, 170* stat, custom axle back exhaust, Prosport Boost gauge.
15' F150 Lariat Sport, all the options, 3.5L Eco. (fiancée ride.)
13' GTCS, will be missed.

FoMoCoSHO

We were advised by the Ford tech hotline not to change my oil before 4k because there is special "break in" oil.

So while there is no "break in" driving style, rings, gaskets, and seals need this oil.

So I wait to tune.....only 3500 to go and a short drive to work now.

Ugh.

I remember when purchasing my SHO new back in 8/13,gas prices were at an all time high which was a little painful, but the tune made up for it a little, currently if not already the transition over to summer blend is upon us depending the state you live in,and hopefully you should see better mpg and performance, good luck with the new ride.Z

I gleefully fill my tank no matter the cost, lol.

I mean, I like the fact the SHO can get respectable mileage but lets get serious, MPG is really a non factor.

MPG wise, the 2013 seemed to really break in at about 10K

wasinger3000

I'm at 23k with the SHO and I am seeing the best milage I've ever had on a car. Usually 26mpg at 80mph is normal for me.

Better than my 15' f150 is getting that's for sure. Average 14.6mpg at 80mph. :(

to me the 3.5 doesn't look like a hog & if it is i'm glad i got it & you can have a new 2.7.  really ford has done a great job of selling the ecoboost idea but fuel efficient it's not my 2.0L escape which weighs over 1000# less makes only 19.3 around town, so compared to my 17.8, the hog does pretty damn well!!!!

So I decided to get good numbers for this thread from this weekend. Normally, I drive hard, and am at WOT probably 25-45% of my accelerations. The road is my racetrack.

When I'm driving hard I get about 17MPG: See below:

This weekend I drove 4+ hours on the interstate. I was determined to get the best MPG.... until a Z06 Vette pulled up next to me and we ended up 130+ several times on the interstate. (SMH I can't help myself sometimes). The majority of my trip was flat lands (Illinois) and most of the trip was 80-90MPH (speed limit 70).

On the Highway with a little bit of highway racing.... I got 22ish MPG. It was closer to 23.8 until I passed 6 cars due to a guy with a muddy trailer kicking up muddly stones every bump. See below:

If you're concerned about MPG get a Prius. If you want performance you pay a luxury tax for it. Even the 4 banger STI and EVOs gets 17 MPG. I agree that the SHO does great for being a v6 & able to be as efficient as the ricey counterparts..

I really don't keep track of my mpg.  But the car usually is in the high teens 16 to 19 on short trips with me and the wife driving very differently. Highway up to 80 mph its been around 26 or 27. It seems to be good for a heavy powerful car.

ROCOB

I have a 2011 PP that is averaging 22.2 MPG over a 6500 mile drive cycle 60% city, 40% hwy with an unleashed 2bar tune. Stock tune on over a 5000 mile drive cycle (same parameters) was averaging 22.4 MPG.  I will gladly sacrifice the .2 MPG for the untold additional SPG (smiles per gallon).

The key to high mpg is 'not' to hear any turbo spool. Stay out of the turbos and it's a V6.
If I baby mine and putter around, I can easily get 27 hwy and 20 city. Which is the same as my old Subaru with 165hp.

Spool up the turbos and drive like you mean it and I get 17 city and 21hwy
I'm pleased...

Yea, but I have to disagree...my '13 gets those numbers with my foot in the throttle at every opportunity... If I stay below 90-95 mph in the 10% of my driving done on the freeway...
