For me it was simplicity.  I went LMS because I don't want to spend all my time data logging tweaking the tune for hundredth of a second in my 0-60 and because Anthony & the crew... even Dan himself has been very good about discussing mods with me on the phone and answering my general questions. Some philosophic reasons too I suppose.  But those you will decide on your own. I love my v8 tune and run a 4sec 0-60 on crappy AZ 91 octane with no problems or poor mileage in my lead foot daily driving.
Both tuners can do a good job as far as performance.

BigMac is 100% correct,it comes down to if you want a tune based on your vehicles mods and simplified and sets its own parameters to self adjust for example cat back and cold air go with LMS like i did,if you want to do datalogging and tweaks here and there then go with someone else,honestly I was one of the first to get the V8 LMS,DP 170STAT,3-BAR TUNE early this year and couldnt ask for anything more.

I don't even know how to data log... I've seen it done but yea I'm not trying to do all of that, but is it needed with a torrie tune? I called lms first around 3 but no answer twice.  Torrie answered immediately so I just started with some questions and that's why so far I'm going with them.

I still plan to check with lms though.  As of right now I just want a tune for the upgraded internals the intake and a switch from a 2 Bar to a 3 bar sensor.

No need to datalog with Torrie.  Only if you want to.  Your call.

If its not a smooth tune..jerking on acceleration etc..I'm want it fixed so I'm assuming then I'll need to data log

As I understand it the 3BAR MAP provides not only higher boost communication to the ECM, but does it in a more incremental fashion.  In my '13 SHO, when I compare  LMS v8 2BAR tune to LMS v8 3BAR tune the latter is much smoother throughout... Very noticeable difference. Crisp shifts but not head jerkers and steadier pull at WOT even though it will chirp tires at the 1-2 and the 2-3.

No such problems with my Livernois tune. Aggressive 3 bar tune fine for dd, with plenty of pedal just in case someone needs to be SHOed.

That's crazy chirpage in 2-3 lol, I like that. Well hopefully I can get someone at lms today and see what there pricing is vs what torrie gave me.. gave me a package deal with the 3 bar and tune 300..

Since only the LMS guys are here... I'll put in my OPINION. (No need for the riot gear boys...)

I went with Torrie for the great flexibility of tuning. I can do just about anything I want to my car and torrie will work with it. LMS is limited to their parts for tuning. Data logging is easy and it's important to have a tune that is tailored to your car. Every  engine is a little different.  Why not tune for it?

Was your car "the chosen one" on the dyno on the 3rd day man was gifted with LMS? I don't think so.

Seems to be a theme at the top of the fastest times list too. There is a thread with alot of info on both sides. Thinks it's "looking to switch from LMS to unleashed"...maybe "MAN (U)" can link it here to keep the waters calm.

Because everyone has a local track and the time to go there and bloat about their new LMS tune... yep that explains the "list". You cannot use this stupid list as a reason to buy a tune. There are hundreds of variables that make a track time. Put the cars head to head then we can talk.

I'll drive 200 miles to any LMS guy and give him a run on a track. Needs to be a cool town though.

Ya know, I am not so sure it is people have bad stuff to say about other tuners, as it is folks are really passionate about their own tuners.  True, some are critical of other tuners, but most debates are about which is better, not about one or the other being a bad tune or a rip off.

Something most agree on is that Torrie and Livernois are really the two most popular/best choices out there.
