If they weigh different, would it try to separate after sitting for awhile?

They are miscible fluids.

Think whiskey or vodka....it's distilled pure and then cut with water to the desired alcohol content by volume.

Thx...meth still off on the horizon for me. Didn't know if the molecular breakdown would allow for them to combine.

Anyone know what our cars max boost is normally?  Trying to figure out turn on and full psi settings for the controller.

The highest I saw stock was 12.1

Tuned on e85 is see 19 psi. But I'm wondering if that will be different with meth.

Could you upload a datalog? I'd like to compare fuel curves.

Highest tunes was a spike @17.  I usually see a sustained 13-14 psi

Talked to Snow Performance.  Tech said don't run any meth below 10° ambient. Which is obvious. I wonder at to what point in temp range does meth become irrelevant. Maybe I should run 100% meth and use a smaller nozzle in the winter. Reason I want meth is for the octane bump. But if I cannot use it year round. It's a bit disappointing.

Couldn't you insulate the methanol tank and/or delay use until engine is warmed up to a certain temperature, to make it a year-round application?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

It is a "year round" application. No reason to be disappointed.

We had sub zero, polar vortex weather here in Chicago this past winter and I had no issues.

Manu you hit it right on the head. Delay it's use, or do not get into the boost range where it's use is called/demanded for.

Realistically, one should be cautious driving in cold temps anyhow (i.e. not flooring it, driving like an ass, etc.) whether one employs a Meth system, or not.

I myself have always used a 100% solution.

Way to much of a hassle to utilize anything less than that IMO.

I did some more digging and I think it will be fine. I will be using 80% meth so freezing is not an issue and there is no way I will get any post intercooler Temps below 32* once the car is warmed up. I just hope the car reacts ok. I might use a smaller nozzle just in case.

Alright. Thanks for the post. I might just go with 100% to eliminate any extra variables.

So how exactly are meth tunes set up? Can I just raise the start point of injectuon without a new tune?

Or are the tunes made to increase timing at specific psi points?

I can only speak to my application alone, as I personally am not experienced with what others do, from a tuning perspective that is.

Mine is boost activated in conjunction with the tuning.

I do have the ability to raise or lower the initial turn on, as well as being able to control how much is being dumped in.....

But I suppose there in alone lies the differences between the product offerings currently available.

I rarely ever mess with my controls. There's really no need to. I enjoy the simplicity of it all and merely having the reassurance that I CAN control aspects of (available) parameters is simply icing on the cake.

91hybrid

As you know from me, I'm 100% with a 10 gal per hour nozzle with activation at 8psi full in at 12 psi.

I've seen boost spikes at shifts as high as 21psi tapering to 15 at shift rpm. My current timing is at 10 deg at shift point and goes up to 18.5 through the rpm. I have not seen a single knock signal at the current level I'm at. We are still not done with the tune as there is still plenty left in this thing from a timing stand point. I have a ton of fuel but I think I may be running out of boost so I really need more boost to use my great fuel rail pressures. My fuel rail pressures never dip below 2100 psi at WOT at this boost level and my lamda's are rock solid too.

I might try to use this if I have reliability issues with controllers. This seems bulletproof. http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=388
