SCT x4 Use and troubleshooting

As I've been having some issues getting clean data logs and navigating the Livelink software, I thought I'd start a thread that might help future noobs.

1st issue, how do I remove items from a current config file, or do I have to build a new one every time? If I uncheck the unwanted items in the view and try to save the configuration, it saves everything not just the checked pids.

Ok, I'm getting somewhere.

Once Torrie's config file is loaded click list under items which brings up the interface to remove pids from the currently loaded file.

After items are removed, click configure.

I had to delete the current file on the device to load the new one.

Another issue is that Livelink will only let me DL files to my libraries folder and it won't let me change the target.

In recording mode, can you do multiple pulls until it is full or does it overwrite the last file when you hit record?

tmcphail

I don't use the X4 for logging its always through live link. When you record it will continue to until it can no longer. if you stop it and start recording again what was there will be overwritten.

So just record what you want, retrieve it and go again.

Does all the X4 software work on XP?

SCT indicated I may not have these issues if I use the x4 in bridge mode in conjunction with a laptop

I need a new laptop but I don't make impulse purchases and don't want to make a purchase due to my current issues.

I do however have access to an XP machine.

Is there an OBD cable that plugs straight into the laptop skipping the X4?

tmcphail

I don't see why live link and SCT drivers wouldn't work.

If you follow my instruction and possibly build your own config file with the following only you should be fine on your current path

RPM
Fuel rear pressure
Waste gate duty cycle
Spark advance
Manifold absolute KPA and volts
Measured AFR 1-2
IAT 2
Knock retard
TIP PRS boost KPD and DSD

You have proven the viability of WGDC and FRP with much fewer pids

What exactly is fuel rear pressure?

Modified file is built and I will be leaving soon to get a pull.

Fingers crossed!

Yup what he said^^. Same here when we were logging I had the laptop plugged into the X4 and logged it that way. Typically any software will just over write once you stop and start a log. You will have to save it first then start the next log. This is also the case in FORScan. Torrie had no issues when we did it that way and he was also able to compensate for artificial hi IATs on the Trailblazer SS due to the stupid location of the MAF. The laptop is also cool because if you have a copilot he/she can monitor the output in real time on the graphs.

Fuel rear pressure = fuel rail pressure. its vital.

One other thing for those that may take my comments out of context.

I am very happy with my tune and the awesome service (not to mention patience) I have received from Torrie.

Being able to save multiple files on one outing is a great reason to use the laptop. Having to run home after every pull is kind of a PITA.

Gotcha.

That is something I continuously watch in Torque, hopefully the X4 will prove Torque's accuracy on this pid.

Where is the danger zone with FRP @ WOT?

tmcphail

i don't like it much below 1500. Target is 2200 at WOT.

Data degradation.

All datalogs thus far have been unable to provide the info needed to tweak my tune.

I like my tune but I am not at all happy with the SCT hardware or software.

Too bad there aren't better choices.

Im sure that I am not the only one that is curious as to what is the basis for you not liking the X4 or the software .
We , most of us agree that Torries service and Tunes are GREAT ...
