Just to update this thread. My vehicle has been at the Ford dealership for the last couple weeks. They have covered everything from top to bottom on the engine and even have removed and inspected the passenger side turbo. I talked with the shop foreman and he says he can not see anything wrong with the seals on the turbo. He has experience with these turbos failing on the F-150's and he can not identify the same kind of failures with my turbo. He also mentioned he has not been able to get the vehicle to reproduce the smoking out of the passenger side exhaust. They can not find anything wrong with the vehicle as it sits and they are returning the vehicle back to me with fresh fluids and al of my warranty still intact.
So if anyone is looking for a good deal on a 2013 SHO, get in touch with me as I have had enough of this car. Too much time in the shop and not enough time on the road.

I read your other post and there is definitely something going on with catless downpipes besides pointing the finger at something being wrong with either of our cars.

As I said you're making an incorrect assumption based off of what you think is 1 + 1 = 2, the catted pipes just uncover the fact that your car had an issue prior to them being installed. It sucks but it's true and I can trust dealer mechanics as far as I can throw them... (even though I can throw them pretty dang far)
Sorry for you finding this out and blaming the pipes but it's just not the case.

My PPE Catless DP's have been on for a week and I have been thrashing it to see what shakes out. No smoke visable at idle, WOT, decel, cruising speed. Nothing unusual, had a bit of an odor the first couple days - figure it was the oil cooking of the pipes. Now all is clean, clear and good.

In general regardless if you install DP  or Exhaust you are going to get that smell for a couple of days, also recomended after install and some initial driving that you make sure to double check to see if all the bolts are tight to torque specs.

Keep in mind there is supposed to be a update PVC system to be available soon. Remember reading something about it in a new TSB.

Black99 and Vernon.... I'm curious as I am trying to get to the bottom of the smoking issue myself.. Do you still have the third cat on your car?

I'm completely stock after the down pipes.  So I'm guessing yes?  No smoke and she gets beat pretty hard.

It's an update and not a recall?  What parts are needed?

Before install: no smoke
after install: smoke
stock reinstalled: no smoke

I wonder if the install was done improperly? And when the stock pipes went back on, whatever the issue was, got corrected. With it only smoking from one side I have a hard time blaming the pipes. With this things simply being pipes, there's nothing inherently complicated to them, I am also having trouble blaming the pipes.

I posted this in another thread about the smoking problem so I'll go ahead and post it here. The people who are experiencing the smoking, did you have the TSB done on the oil return line for the turbos?

QuoteThat's what I've been thinking of actually, it seems as if the problem is delivery of oil to/from the turbo. In my opinion, in order to have efficient delivery of oil you need a closed, air-tight system as it is pressurized to delivery the oil. FMC faulty oil-return lines probably were either too small or not creating a tight seal and causing some oil to leak out (reason for the TSB).

As such, having poor oil flow to/from the turbo's could result in fried seals (which some people are seeing) or inconsistent blue smoking from the oil being burnt.

Thoughts on this?
