Winter tires

I decided I'll run a dedicated winter set on my SHO.  Will keep the 20"s free of mag chloride and will keep the F1's going for a few more years.  Get enough snow in the mountains to justify it.

TireRack has a special on Pirelli Scorpion Ice/Snow, $411 shipped.  Then a $60 visa card, so $351 after.   Has great reviews, saw a MKS EcoBoost owner saying they were great.  I've ran Winterforces and Blizzaks in the past, definitely feel the softer tire/wall when taking sharp turns.  Hopefully won't take all the fun out of the SHO for 7 months out of the year.

Anyone have these?

Should I buy cheap 18's ($120/ea) at TireRack or are there cheap 18" tires that work with our AWD SHOs that I can get off Craigslist?  I'm not familiar with what wheels fit our cars.

These tires = GOD MODE ACTIVATED. Awesome winter rubber, very glad I have them.

About to pull the trigger.  A complete package with TPMS sensors, $1,150 shipped.  Hard to beat.

Think these wheels will look alright on my SHO?

Hard to tell since TireRack's Ignot Silver is not even close.

I think that will look fine.

I did the same thing last October that you are doing and I am very pleased with the results.  The car is much better with some winter rubber.  Plus, every few seasons the tires are a lot more affordable to replace in a smaller size.

Wow you're not kidding about the Ingot Silver being off, but I think they'll look fine, especially since you'll be more concerned with performance than aesthetics in the winter.

The SHOs AWD system is fantastic in the snow with a decent set of winter tires. I have a set of Police steel wheels for mine in the winter and Blizzaks. Haven't got stuck yet! And the last 2 winters have been brutal here.
It's funny to see people around me slow down thinking in a cop lol.

Bought it.  I'll post some pics with the wheels next to the car, as they won't get mounted until late October.

$1180 shipped, plus a $60 rebate card.  Had to buy the $45 tool to program the new TPMS sensors.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!
