Clicking noise when moving steering wheel back and forth

My new to me '13 SHO PP has 6500 miles.  I drove into my work's parking garage for the first time today and noticed a clicking noise when going slow and turning the wheel (with windows down).  I then parked the car and moved the steering wheel back and forth, was able to duplicate the click, click, click.    Not loud but very noticeable.

Is this normal?  If not, what would cause that?

I just checked. No clicking sound on mine. You can check the steering column for any thing on it. Could be a zip tie or something weird.

I'll check later to see if I can hear it in my driveway.  Only heard it in the parking garage.  Can't get it in my garage because it's full of crap, probably would hear it in there.   Definitely coming from suspension/tire/steering area on outside.

I'll try to get a video of it.

This has come up before here. I believe its a problem with the wheel bearing assembly. The dealer installs some kind of washer on the CV shaft.

I'll see what Ford says when I bring it by for an oil change in a week or two.

Has anyone had this TSB done and it fixed the issue?

It's the front hubs, had the same issue with mine. Is yours a performance package car? If so there is an issue with the part HUB200 which is the front hubs. In order to fix mine they changed the hubs twice on the second attempt they also did the washer TSB and replaced the studs and hubs. So far it's been quiet. Only time will tell.

Just the washer TSB will not fix it. They tried that with mine lol.

Yup,  have PP.   Great,  sounds like a fun battle with the stealer.

Oh ya took me almost 12 months to get it fixed. The good news is that it doesn't really affect the drivability of the car. Just really annoying with the windows down.

How would you describe what needs to be done?  New hubs or studs?   Surely Ford knows what the solution is?

It's hit and miss, the issue is the hubs. There is slop in the hubs after a short time of driving when the cars are new. Hence the clicking, mine had 10k when it started. If you have the tech place a pry bar between the steering knuckle and the hub you can duplicate the noise. On mine they changed the tie rods (did nothing) , then the hubs. When they did the hubs the noise was quieter  for about 5k miles then came back even louder. They then did the washer TSB. And that did nothing, at this point I was ready to call Ford directly and they replaced the hubs again, but this time they also replaced the wheel studs and it's been gone since then. That was about 10k ago. So that is my story. Others here have had the same issue and similar stories.

Thanks!   If anyone else got the noise fixed,  would appreciate their story too.

I'll update thread with after dealer looks at it.   Always seem to get techs who can't reproduce or say it's normal.   Be nice if they had a TSB for this.
