Yeah, the 6f55 is definitely needed...

I see Jasper is selling remanned...
not sure if you could send them a 6f50, and get a fresh 6f55 back, but worth a shot.

Stick with the 3.7L if you want to mod.  More goodies for it, probably just because the engine is available in a Stang.  The selection is VERY poor if using the NA 3.5L, despite the potential user base.  Having a good fabricator and machinist in your Rolodex would be a great idea too!

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

When considering a base, do you think it would be better to start with the standard duratec 3.5L @ 285hp / 253tq, or go straight to the big bore 3.7 Mustang "cyclone" Duratec also found in the Edge Sport @ 305hp / 280tq ??

OOOORRRRR...start small with the 2.0 EB engine at 237hp / 270 tq, upgrade the already equipped BorgWarner K03 turbo...then slap the delivery system on it from a 3.5EB and crank up the tune??
Or better yet, leave the BW turbo in place and add a secondary larger turbo to make Ford's first bi-turbo power plant.

I have no idea what potentially doubling the HP of the 2.0 would result in...I'm just spit-balling here.

If you are willing to lose AWD, then the 2.x EB engines are a possibility.  Custom transmissions are even more of a Pandora's box than engines.

Short block from 3.5 EB with carillo rods and pistons . Beafed up main bearings and Mains and studs with ARP studs and head bolts .Heads and intake from 3.7 duratec .  Exhaust Manifolds From 3.5 EB possibly modified , with ATP Turbos.

Is the Sport EDGE AWD ?

They offer ported and polished heads for 3.5/3.7 duratec and 3.5EB
They also do short and long blocks.

My ex wifes uncle lives in GA and is heavy into pro stock Drag Racing and told me they are top notch .

I've done a driveline and harness swap on an older car and it was a TON of work. Everything that has electricity running to it was swapped from the wrecked donor car, including the HVAC, Steering column etc. Knowing how much work this was for me, I was gonna try and talk you off of the LEDGE However you'd be forging a new path on this project and it would certainly be very EDGEY.  So if your willing to undertake it, I PLEDGE to follow along ;D

Been meaning to reply. Honestly an engine swap is a lot of work and with all these new electronics in late model vehicles now a days it's getting much harder/more expensive.

If you want my opinion, and this is just my opinion, Id find a Edge Sport AWD and install a rear mount turbo kit. Go pick yourself up 2 small turbos or one single turbo and the corresponding flange, have a muffler shop weld it into your exhaust system (you won't need manifolds, hence the simplicity) and then you'll need to figure out routing the intercooler/hot pipes. All original electronics will be left untouched and the computer should be able to run low boost (6-8psi) without needing a stand alone. I'd run the boost using the waste gate of the turbos, so I'd look for 6-8psi waste gates.

This has been done over and over again, I've NA engine being converted to turbo all the time by bolting on a turbo and supporting mods and keeping the boost low. Question is figuring out how much boost you can run!

Neat idea.  But it would take an expert welder, because the exhaust manifolds are fairly thin sheet metal.  Clearances will also be tight for IC piping, but probably manageable.

If you get the tow package, you will get upgraded cooling fans and radiator.  So trans and engine will be happier as well.  The 3.5 has a rating of 3500 lbs vs a 2,000 for the 3.7.

For a '13, but you get the idea:

You're not touching the manifolds, rear mount turbo systems in the simplest explanation are like using a turbo as a muffler. Turbo isn't spooled off the manifold but the exhaust piping wherever you have clearance in the exhaust system to mount it. You would use smaller turbos to avoid lag since it's further from the engine, but you wouldn't  want to run high boost therefore your emphasis are on small (cost effective) fast spooling turbos with built in wastegates to regulate boost.

Routing 2" piping shouldn't be too bad.
