Ya... someone else's ... SW's is sterling grey.

I hope they have hood open dynos on the same SHO with the stock box/filter, then with no box/filter ( just the factory "saxophone"), then with their CAI....

and since it's an "open box" design relying on the heat blanket of the hood to seal it.... It would be interesting to see a hood closed dyno for a fourth and  last pull... or maybe one without the filter on theirs too.

Then info to evaluate the performance aspects would be available.

I'm very interested due to previous dyno info

The owner of the SHO will be back at FastLane sometime towards the end of next week between the 16th &18th .

The SHO is untuned but when it returns , FastLane will put it on the dyno with 93 octanseee in it and do a base pull with the only mods consisting of the CAI and Magnaflow catback exhaust .
I am not sure if they did a base pull pre CAI , but if someone could find what an untuned base is on a SHO it may help . I don't know what year the SHO is .

After the  untuned dyno pull they are going to flash there  own CUSTOM tune file  , a 93 tune that is there build .
They will then do another dyno after the tune is flashed .

I'll post the graph results .

Options for coatings on CAI and heat shield  are none ,  high temp black or silver/gray engine enamel  ( or your choice of enamel color ..  a little more $ ) with clear coat finish or for an extra fee they will send it out locally for powder coating in your color choice , this will cost extra .

They  can do in house  HydroGraphics on it as well as well ... more $$$ as well .

Lastly they do Custom HydroGaphics on engine covers , underhood components  ; valve covers and intake manifolds and other stuff in multiple print and color options  .

More info as I get it .

IIRC....... 2010-2012 SHO's displayed a stock dyno pull ranging between 277-281awhp.

Hope that's of some help. :ok:

I really hope they did a base pull pre CAI to take out the factor of individual vehicle variations.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

After my experience and observations of the Typhoon vs stock I won't even consider it unless they do a baseline.

FoMoCo ... completely different animal here. The Typhoon ties into the OEM plastic crap . This one offers a straighter flow to the turbos and there is a lessening of restriction in that area . This is where I see the potential for power gains .

I unfortunately have to agree, I will bet it's more eye candy than powerful. Doing a test at the track will only be a valid before/after. Need to remove it and test it at the track which isn't viable. Not trying to crap on their product but that's going to still see a ton of under hood HOT air.

Agree... until there are same day timeslips and BTB dynos any discussion  beyond sound and appearance is pure speculation... Test it please

We need a dyno pre CAI (or without one at all) and then after they install the FL CAI.... Timeslips would also be nice.... all the rest is speculation... Please ask them to get us some hard comparison facts since you seem to be in close contact, TIA ... only the delta is important... not the suppositions.

The unit is supposed to seal against existing hood insulation, I thought, to prevent temps from rising at the filter?  Temporarily stick a temp sender in that area to monitor information while the hood is closed, as it is doubtful anyone here will be running the SHO at the track with their hoods removed :D

I know, the problem is that it doesn't matter how much air it flows if the air is twice as hot and half as dense.

BigMac ..... Some of the Terminology you are using is a little " Greek " to me and probably others as well .

So splain  yourself please in regards to the the use of "delta " . You use the term frequently and I'm at  a loss .

I will try to work with Fastlane to the issue of the heat shield and the draw source for fresh outside air . I as well saw this as an issue and asked Mike about it prior to my latest post . I did not get a clear response from him and during the conversation I brought up the AIT concerns that were apparent and then we drifted into CAC's and development   ( not by them ) of this and the need for one for the transverse 3.5 EB.

I believe ideally it should be in a semi enclosed Box with the upper area sealed against the Hood drawing air through the OEM snorkel area .  Maybe that can be fabricated through someone else if they can't as I am open to getting that part done locally in Tulsa if Fastlane is unable to do so .

From there a sealed in the Hood  Air inlet Vent / Scoop above the filter box area could be done afterwards to draw more fresh air in as a secondary inlet . This is something only a very few would consider but done subtly by a good body shop would look sick  !

I'm trying simply to find a better CAI solution than what is currently available as there really are no credible alternatives at this time .

Mike .... 4DRHTRD simply has the problem of too many pots on the fire to accomplish everything by himself .

This CAI design is not at the moment a perfect solution but at least credible in the sense that Fastlane is at least trying .

I look at it this way and a few others here as well I think are of the same mindset .

If this CAI shows some improvement over Stock it will be worth it to me and strictly from an asthetics point of view it is worth it to me .

I am a modder and asthetics are Very important in what I do . The OEM air filtration system looks like crap .

I will bring this up again about further modifications that this CAI needs to keep HOT engine air away from the filter inlet and necessary improvements to the design and see if they can accommodate .

I'll keep you informed as I find out .

Sorry' bout that SW ... delta= difference in two things... actual dyno findings in this case.  (post CAI dyno findings) - (pre CAI dyno findings) = net gain or loss of HP and or TQ

I think efficiently getting really the coolest air possible to the turbos is  a real concern for us all... mine was prompted by earlier dyno testing Mike and I did on my car... posted in the dp install thread.

The factory intake and air box doesn't seem to be a restriction to flow based on that testing (which surprised me!).... closing it completely maximizes elimination any chance of under hood air... not pretty... but the Ford engineers did a good job there IMHO.

FastLane is working on the next, and unknown step in air induction... that saxophone snake thing... (I agree with that wholeheartedly).. but again, we'll need pre and post install testing to know... kudos to them if they do it. I agree.. it's a major step if the performance is proven!  I hope it does as I have a factory box being custom built in CF with two separate ceramic coated tubes to turbos)... I hope it works... but like you also wanted aesthetics and and for me sound control also as I don't want my SHO to sound like my wife's diesel personally  (you and I are both OC about how our engine bay looks... LOL)  I am not doing it for sales... and trying a few more ideas to keep the air colder in the design... more on that later.

An intake through the hood is a viable option for sure too!... i'd still want to see OEM vs that mod dynos on it.
We are all looking for that CAI that actually does what all the manufacturers claim for sure... sooner or later all the bits and pieces will show us the way. My posts are not meant to be a challenge... I just want the info so we know

Then it's on to figuring out a better intercooler... and the pre engine block part will be done after that.

Again Kudos to all working on this issue of outside to turbo engine breathing... What we need is the real data.... Pretty, but proven performance is where we want everyone to end up.... That's why I posed the question....
