Strange smell

Few weeks ago I swapped out my plugs, cleaned throttle body, sensors, seafoamed and scrubbed down engine bay including bottom of hood. Now I keep getting a smell in my vents that smells just like inside of valve cover, kinda used oil smell not burning. I cleaned out cowl area and changed cabin filter thinking crap from bottom of hood got down there when I washed it. Could be insulation on the lower engine cover? Can I run without that massive cover? I can smell it first thing in morning so motor doesnt have to be warm. Checked and rechecked hoses underhood as the RX can was bone dry after 550 miles. I watched him empty one in parking lot and it had plenty of crap in it. Unless I used the wrong vacuum  line seafoaming. The big line coming off brake booster.

What did you use to clean the engine bay?  Residues from non-dedicated Eb cleaners will do that.  Check the brake fluid and engine oil for condition?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Just a natural cleaner comparable to Fantastic. Wasnt very dirty. Just dust n crap fron livin in Ohio. Changing oil tonite,  only at about 2500 miles but I've been racing and pulled a trailer 1100 miles. Brake fluid is good.

I have no idea on the smell issue .

I would however be concerned with The RX  being " bone dry " after 550 miles.
Have you let Tracy at RX know ?

I dont think that's my smell. Never did it till I messed around underhood. Car can be ice cold [well for Florida] and the second I start car I smell it. I have a feeling I got an oily residue near that cabin filter seeins the vent is sealed mostly from underhood. But the hood was up when I washed it so all that crap ran down windshield

Awesome!  Glad it cleared out, whatever the reason.
