Definitely sounds good, even trumping the 8-speeds in the competitors' vehicles.  The Short URL (without tracking) :D

again, progress is great; but the underline point of the article (the current Taurus (and its platformmates) being uncompetitive) is pure poppycock!

yes, its an older platform but the Taurus is certainly class competitive in all its variants and was class leading at one point; and still is in terms of design IMO.

also the SHO routinely outperforms the Charger RT in 'real life' at least until the SHO's turbos run out of steam; and when performance really matters, in police vehicles, the Interceptor sedan (SHO variant) and Interceptor SUV (Explorer Sport variant) outperforms their competition - RWD Charger Pursuit (RT variant), Chevy Tahoe PPV and Durango Special Service vehicle according to Michigan and California police vehicle testing.  thus Ford owns nearly half of the enitre police vehicle market in 2013.

Wow, we may have an instant collector car. all i know from having an escape on the fusion frame, the 2.0l fills engine bay up pretty well. no room for the 3.5l that i can see.

Still much speculation here, I work at that plant where the new taurus is slated to be built at. And haven't heard jack about it, however we are starting to do some work in preparation for the new MKS while I work in the paint shop this means very little and yet to see any metal yet. But the work that has been so far is trialling better clear coats as the new MKS has to have a better finish on the car. So in summary its my opinion even the ones that know don't even know as of know, the market is in a slump right now and ford is doing damage control. Lay offs and etc. But also so Ford has went to one global market, what this means is they if build focus let say it is the same focus in every market. Where the past Focus where different in every market. So as to a chinese taurus I am calling Bravo Sierra on this one.

^^^^ One Ford is the direction they are going. But 2016 is about the time a redesign would come into play for the Taurus

I didn't think the first article was very flattering.  These :clown: s must not be aware of what can be done with this platform.  I am very interested to see if the new Taurus will have a SHO, a 3.5 EB and be available in the States.  Otherwise, like Mike says, I'll hang on to my collector car.

I would be very surprised if the 3.5L Ecoboost did not live on in one form or another in a sedan slotted somewhere in the Ford line-up. Whether or not it is still a Taurus, time will only tell.

Now to say this car is a "collector car" is a little bit of a reach don't you think?

And another thing to consider here even though the new 2015 models look great is that the manufacturer's are getting smarter tech wise to all the modding going on.  I pretty sure the 2015 plus line up of ECU's are not going to be easy to tune/alter along with (built in) increased tracking of any deviations from stock tune. Not a problem if you buy used (out of warranty) or don't care if your powertrain gets axed on a new car.  Got to pay to play ultimately.  Then again being that we are in a time of the greatest horsepower wars (seen to date) between the manufacturers stock may be fast enough.  Pretty much now it is taking 650 plus horsepower to even be competitive with the factory Vipers, ZR1 Vettes, GT500's, etc.  Times are good for cars.  Please do not bring back the 70's....  LOL

If they can reduce/eliminate orange peel from the factory, that would be really cool!

Yes it would.... I found it shocking having to do a paint correction on a brand new car after I took delivery... not to mention the cost.
