Should burn right off.  Just dont take short trips, that is never good for the fuel system or the cats.

Fingers crossed.  Bank 1 cat is like $650.

Gave the engine bay a good degreasing and hosing.  Interior and carpets are getting cleaned and shined.  I don't even think i can smell any fuel smell.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

U know what, that pretty much happened to my SHO. The ford warranty decided to replace all the injectors while they replaced the faulty one. Two days later I had a code for a cat that would come and go every other day. $650 for a cat is a lot cheaper than what the dealership quoted me for that part. They wanted $980 each. PPE catted downpipes(pair) was 700 or 800, so I went with them. I hope you won't have to deal with a cat. But if you do, I recommend PPE. I would get no codes on the factory tune with those.

That's what i'm dreading.  Why did ford warranty cover your injectors and not that cat?  Emissions warranty goes longer than every other warranty.

Tasca has bank 1 for $665 and bank 2 for $370, so we'll see.  I didn't drive it at all today, but I'm putting some miles on it tomorrow and the next few days.  I should know in the next couple days if i need a cat or not.

Rockauto actually has both sides for $200.  I don't know if they need to be welded or not though.  No pictures and not sure how i feel about aftermarket, but on a 150k mile car, it's something to consider.

It was a Ford premium extended warranty. When a direct injector goes, usually the rest will too in the near future and it's much cheaper to do them all in one shot. So I think they covered them all because it was a cheaper gamble. The Ford Premium extended warranty does not cover exhaust. I am as surprised as you are. I looked at my pamphlet and sure enough almost everything is on the covered list, except for exhaust components.

Looks like i may be in the clear.  Put about 200 miles on the last two days and no CEL.  Torque's telling me the catalyst system is ready and both downstream o2 sensors are reading a fairly consistent .6-.7 volts.  I think i may have dodged a bullet with these cats.  Cars running smooth again.

Word of advice for everyone.   Get yourself a good radiator pick if you don't already have one.  Something like this.  My upper radiator hose was glued on to the manifold.  Really every hose was pain to remove.

Thanks for this!  I've had a few times when something like that could have been handy.  Certainly better than using a flat head screwdriver.  Think I'll pick one up for the next time I need one.  Love tools.

Very happy to hear you are back on the road without too much drama!
