Welcome aboard the E.B.P.F Nelsonbullitt and due post some pics of the new ride and how many miles on your SHO ? Did you install new plugs preferably gapped at 0.030 to coincide with your tune? and best of luck and thanks for joining. Z
ZSHO, I'd like to hear more about gapping the plugs. The car had 49K miles on it, one owner. Likely the orig plugs. But, being new to this car, I would like to know more. I understand the 3bar map sensor is important if I want to run more boost. Is this correct? Would like to see the cost of modding the SHO as a DDR turning mid 12s or so. All info is welcome!
Or, should I go to a different thread?
Thanks for all your help!
There are bunch of threads out there related to bolt ons, but the basics are:
Tune+3bar (to run higher boost/let the ECU read the spike values above 14.7 psi boost) - ~$600 or so, can save if buying used
Thermostat ($40 - 60) + tune revision
CAI (some use one, some don't) ~$300 new
These mods, will put you into the mid to high 12's, depending on your car, and your location for ~$1000. My car with just CAI, and a Tune (93 octane, 15psi, stock spark) with 3 bar ran 12.87 @ 107
I have since tuned for E20 and now can run 20-25 degrees of spark advance at WOT. Should be mid 12s as it sits.
I am adding downpipes soon as well (the next major mod that is worth doing, IMO) for ~600 bucks they should shave another .2 or so off, and start the power coming on about 400 rpm earlier.
