I've read on here and articles that these ECU's record when you have messed with them. Is that not true?... I'm not sure my wallet wants to know though

I read that Ford has ways to tell how many times a new calibration has been flashed to the PCM, but not WHAT was flashed.
Read the Magnusson Moss warranty act.

Read the below attachment very carefully the verbage is very important!

Pay close attention to the part about p1000 and "battery disconnect".

IDK about you but anytime I have a problem with my Ford, disconnecting my battery is the first thing I do to "troubleshoot" any issue. Electronics lock up and need their power source removed from time to time, its just the nature of the beast.

Some other things before going in for service...

Put your OBD cover back on.

Got any stickers advertising for your tuner? Probably a bad idea.

Bolt ons will always raise suspicion.

Do you keep your tuner and 3 bar in your glove box? Might want to leave that at home.

Reinstall your engine cover if you roll dirty.

Been to the track lately? Remove the numbers from your glass.

Most importantly what you do with your car stays between you and your car. Never volunteer any info about what you've done or plan to do with your car.

Obd cover I've never had one of those? Was my car sapos to have one?
Thanks for the info.

That post had me asking myself the same question, lol,

I've had something in my port from day 1 (phrasing!) and I can't remember.

Can mycal or SCT programmer make it so when you put the car in sport that it becomes manual mode like in the old sho where it won't do any automatic shifting?

Thats the way it should work already in S if you dont hit the brake, right?
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

No it holds it longer but will shift after a few seconds and also with upshift as soon as it hits the revlimit it will shift.
Actually I think it will hold when I let off the gas for going down hill.

You know I've had an aux fuel system for years, right? :)
E85 works, it's been proven on my car, Jacobs and Todd's, works great with the aux fueling.
Your problem isn't HP, that can be achieved, what's the point if the PTU and transmission can't handle it?
There's a big single SHO out there, built engines already from LMS and others.
Need to find a way stouter trans and TCU, myself and LMS and others can make all the HP you could want but the driveline is suspect.
Besides that fact there's been maybe 20 - 30 cars in this whole time breaking 550WHP, the desire just isn't there.

The other problematic challenge, besides a general lack of interest overall (as pointed out by Mike B.) is the mere transverse design of the engine/trans.

Our tranny options, even at a custom build kind, our even further limited in scope, due to the transverse style.

Which, drives up the cost(s).

I'm already looking to spend more on a built drivetrain, and it's related components, than I did on all the other investments I've spent thus far.

Which it takes time to allocate funds, when flipping college tuition for the kiddies, and all of life's responsibilities.

I was waiting to hear how Jacob's Trans build was coming along, but I heard even he's having shifting issues, going into reverse, and all sorts of other quirky things.

It will be interesting to see how the platform continues to change and morph into it's next iterations (in the modding spectrum that is) as more and more of these are getting snatched up by 2nd & 3rd owners in the used car market(s).

@BPD- How is your trans holding up with all that beastly power?

Perfectly fine thus far.

But remember,  I have NOT run that highest 617awhp file yet (nor do I intend too) until the trans gets built.

Some of you will recall, that years ago, during one of my initial (of several now) tours of the CAP where our Taurii are assembled/built....

I spoke with the very engineers that developed this platform personally and inquired about the trans and it's point of failures.

Without getting into specifics, I was informed that internal testing did not expose failures until "around the 720 mark".... 720 being at the motor as far as horsepower.

Now I didn't ask, nor was the info volunteered what those failures FMC discovered were, but suffice to say, given the 23-24% drivetrain loss which is prevalent in this platform, I have been running my 525awhp file regularly for some time now, and that equates to roughly 680 at the motor.

So what I was told by those engineers, seems to have proven accurate thus far, as I am about 40 crank horse UNDER their advised thresholds.

Other than the occasional street grudge match to unsuspecting Vette, or Porsche owners who line up with me (& lose I'll add, lol) I have been taking it easy on her this year for the most part.

I love my SHO, & I am dismayed that FMC has decided to discontinue the platform here in the States, for 2017 and beyond.....

As such, I'd like to hang on to her for many years to come, so I have reevaluated my direction moving forward, and have been saving (& purchasing) several components for a MASSIVE custom audio build.

But that's for another thread yet to be written. I just don't care to see my baby suffer an untimely lengthy storage stint in my mechanic's yard, due to a broke @$$ trans, and me tucking even more money away for a custom built one.

All in due time my friend.

The next Taurus will be built on the Fusion platform.  I believe that China will get it first and then we'll get it for 2018 MY.  There is not a SHO planned as of yet, I don't believe.  I would guess that we will see a SHO again for the 2019 model year, but that's only my personal guess.
