@BPD- How is your trans holding up with all that beastly power?
Perfectly fine thus far.
But remember, I have
NOT run that highest 617awhp file yet (nor do I intend too) until the trans gets built.
Some of you will recall, that years ago, during one of my initial (of several now) tours of the CAP where our Taurii are assembled/built....
I spoke with the very engineers that developed this platform personally and inquired about the trans and it's point of failures.
Without getting into specifics, I was informed that internal testing did not expose failures until "around the 720 mark".... 720 being at the motor as far as horsepower.
Now I didn't ask, nor was the info volunteered what those failures FMC discovered were, but suffice to say, given the 23-24% drivetrain loss which is prevalent in this platform, I have been running my 525awhp file regularly for some time now, and that equates to roughly 680 at the motor.
So what I was told by those engineers, seems to have proven accurate thus far, as I am about 40 crank horse UNDER their advised thresholds.
Other than the occasional street grudge match to unsuspecting Vette, or Porsche owners who line up with me (& lose I'll add, lol) I have been taking it easy on her this year for the most part.
I love my SHO, & I am dismayed that FMC has decided to discontinue the platform here in the States, for 2017 and beyond.....
As such, I'd like to hang on to her for many years to come, so I have reevaluated my direction moving forward, and have been saving (& purchasing) several components for a MASSIVE custom audio build.
But that's for another thread yet to be written. I just don't care to see my baby suffer an untimely lengthy storage stint in my mechanic's yard, due to a broke @$$ trans, and me tucking even more money away for a custom built one.
All in due time my friend.
