If you are a track kinda person, keep in mind that the SHO in stock trim cuts low 14's or very high 13's. This is a bit slower than your mustang, I would imagine, and the exhaust note is not as nice IMO. However, it is a much more luxurious ride, and still pretty quick.

I say go for it if you can find a nice deal. Around here there are plenty of used SHOs under 20K, some even under 10k (due to rebuilt title status). If you get once cheap enough you will have money for MODS!

Either way, I am sure you will enjoy whatever ride you choose.
Thanks for your reply. I've only been to the track one time in my life, well I'm driven down the track one time in my life. I've been several times. So I would not say that I'm a track guy. I'm more of a street cruiser, I do like to let it rip in the open road sometimes. I doubt that I would even get exhaust if I get a SHO. I would probably keep it to the basics intake to T-Stat, three bar  and maybe some wheels and tires. As far as my current car goes, I'm pretty much done with it. The only thing left to do would be supercharger or turbo. And I don't see spending seven grand on either one of those. It just doesn't mean that much to me. I would love to find a 2013 as I like the lighting and the front facia , And the instrument panel much better. But I am perfectly OK with the 2010 to 2012 as well. I'm just gonna keep my eyes open and try and pay my car down more until I find the perfect car. If I do decide to get into the track, that is what the new edge that I would buy would be for.

If you get a '10-'12, factor the cost of swapping to '13+ brakes into your plan.  Even for street cruising, they are not adequate.  Automotive journalists and owners all complained about them and Ford addressed the issue in '13.

I'd miss he stang! But really want to get out of the mustang scene for a bit. Just need a fun solid daily for a few years.

Pros over a mustang as a daily.

Better MPG
Auto (I hate auto's in toy cars but love them in my daily)
AWD, fear no weather.
Quiet. Inside and out.
Tons of space.
Safter, more metal around you.
Less attention from the law
Owning people at stop lights with the AWD.

Cons to a SHO over a mustang

No more burn outs, slides, or shenangins.  The AWD system is FWD bias.  Grow up time.
Getting your ass kicked from a roll, when the AWD is no longer an advantage and the weight shows it's face. (Even tuned)
Easier to park, the SHO is a big b*tch.
Again, 100% FWD with rear wheels being helpers. (I HATE THIS)
Blending in, people won't really notice you for your car anymore.  I had dozens of complements on my former Marauder daily.  No one bats an eye at the Tauri' because they look like Camry's.

Basically if you're ready to grow up a little bit but still enjoy being the occasional smart ass and enjoy a good chill ride, the SHO is great for that.

However, I'll get rid of my mustangs when I'm dead.  LOL

I'll add easier egress and ingress in parking lots (2dr vs. 4dr)
Less accessories to spend money on (I guess this could be good or bad)

On the less accessories to spend money on part, I will add that you feel less need to modify a SHO.  If you have one that runs 12's, you probably have one of only several in the county and maybe even state depending on where you live.

If you have a naturally aspirated Coyote, you are one of thousands upon thousands in the county.  Even if you're running 11's you're still in a large group.

I have a Fox body that makes 532whp.  It's just one of the masses and nothing special these days.

Very valid points! I'm going to travel some over the next couple of years for work and the Mustang just won't cut it. Plus my line of work is very professional, therefore pulling up in a LT, catless Grabber Blue GT isn't preferable. Do I still want one in my garage to drive occasionally? Dam* right! My fav body style is the new edge. If I get the SHO, I'll save for a new edge. I want an auto to stall and get a turbo.

Thanks for all the help!

What are the most common mods that won't hurt reliability of the car?

What are the most common mods that won't hurt reliability of the car?

Tune, 3 bar map sensor, new factory plugs gapped to .030, and a lower temp thermostat.

You'll be out $550 - $700 depending on the tuner you go with and have a transformed car.

Supporting mods are downpipes and CAI, but neither are necessary.  The parts above represent 90% of any gains you'll get without a built motor and bigger turbos.

SHOdded

2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I spent more than that on my first mod for the mustang, new wheels. I have a couple grand in parts and it may have gained 30hp. Any good sites to buy from??

For less than the price of your wheels, you can drop a full second off the quarter mile time with a SHO.

http://www.ecopowerparts.com/ - Mike is a great guy and the owner of this forum.  You can't go wrong with this route or with getting advice from him.  If you want downpipes with cats, his are the only ones that will not trigger a CEL on a factory tune.

http://www.unleashedtuning.com/ - Torrie is a supporter of our platform, vendor here, and does remote tuning with uncanny turnaround time using the SCT device.

http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/ - Supports our platform, vendor here, highly knowledgeable, and can provide anything available for these cars all they way up to fully a fully built motor.

There are others, but I didn't see a reason to step outside of those 3 very good options.

All I did on mine was a tune an a K&N.  It was hard for me to "step back" and not screw with everything but honestly the thing hauls ass for being a daily and works well for me.  It's NOT a mustang.  If you realize that you'll love the car for what it is.
