PTU Vent Tube and TSB

I was reading the TSB that mentioned SHOs made on or before 11 Dec 2013 had a different  vent system for the PTU. Mine was built 21 Dec 2013 and has a tube with a jiggle cap right by the cam cover. I saw pics of someone's PTU taken apart and it had the standard jiggle cap like on the RDU where there was no tube. My RDU puked a bit of gear oil all over the cover while my PTU was clean at 20k miles. Any ideas? Is the jiggle cap better than the tube? Do I need to keep that tube and jiggle cap clean?

A year and a half ago I had the TSB done with the new vent tube installed and it's back at the dealer now due to the PTU puking again.

Did yours originally just have the jiggle cap?

I believe so, if I recall it was a short vent tube with the same vent cap where as the new one runs up along side the motor and ends at the valve cover. Maybe this is Ford's secret auto flush for the PTU....

Does anyone have a picture of this elevated vent tube?

Thanks I saw that after an hour of reading on changing fluid but I was talking about was it's location in the engine compartment. I looked around on my 16 and couldn't find it and was thinking about using it for a ptu fill point.

You could always locate the vent on top of the ptu and follow the tube up.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I'm curious if that top portion of that vent tube is easily removable. It would be a great way to fill the ptu on the 13-up instead of dropping the DP's and using that crows foot. Anyone ever tried that method?

Not sure how easy but that's my plan for when I change mine and will try to refill from there..
