Few side notes...

When I changed out the Motorcraft fluid, it smelled way worse than the Amsoil. It did have twice the miles on it, but the Amsoil seemed way better in flow and smell.

I'm getting out 12-14 ounces each time

Make sure it's level when refilling

What does ams oil look like after it comes out? Is it black like the OEM stuff or is it still clean looking?

After about 8k it was dark, but as you move it around in the jar you can still see a brown to it as it runs down the jar...car is real smooth when lifting during a WOT pull.

I have severe gear at my house also, saves on shipping if you're interested. I know you're right down the road from me.

Some time in September when my schedule frees up a little bit I plan on changing trans, PTU, RDU, and engine over to Ams Oil but I don't have time before then.

If it is black and clumpy I bet it's out of spec.

You didn't say clumpy before.....So clumpy bad. Black would be inconclusive but you sound like you are old school so do what you want lol......Amsoil signature series would not be for you....You would be changing the oil way before it's ready effectively wasting money and good oil

I'd take care of Don, no problem.

I'd really like a couple hour cool down prior to. Last guys I did was on about an hour cool down and it was HOT. Downpipe's were touchable, but not comfortable on the side of the arm. The fluid in the PTU was still hot, and caused the hose to become so pliable it became real tough to sneak down to the bottom.

I need to check out that MityVac finally.

Rich,

I'm out that way pretty frequently. I may need to plan a weekend out there and come by. I think a few drinks should allow for proper cool time.

It would of probably took a case of cold ones before my car cooled down after a 600 mile trip to attend the LME CAD EVENT last May but surely worth it.  Z

My PTU fluid has never been changed, and im at 84,000 miles, I ordered some fluid and it will be here tomorrow. My plan is to change it, wait about a month, and do it a 2nd time. Then leave it alone for a year.

Good luck, kolk, anxious to see how this pans out for you :thumb:  You are still running the "custom" ;) cats, right?  Hope you'll still love the SHO more than the Vette afterwards!
