I've actually got some of that, just wanted a cleaner not so ghetto look. I may not have a choice though. Stay tuned 😜
I think it looks cleaner than the cheap looking porous foam square piece. That being said they both look far from clean.

Looks good to me and big impovement from the original blade which left an excessive gap.

We need to find black lining for the box, it would help the most I think.

If your issue is the excessive gap,did you try installing the original blade on top of the taller blade for a cleaner look.

Hmm I'll have to see how that would work, that's really thin to hope for it to close around and not come off. I'll see what I can do, but that's a good idea. Currently watching football though lol

Ok so I kinda played around with putting the other blades together just to see what it looks like, imo it looks just as ridiculous as what I have now as you can clearly see its one blade in top of another, I didn't bother putting it in and seeing how well it fit though, maybe this weekend.
But the good news is that just like the op my temps go down much faster at speed and my overall max temp has gone down 5° over the non modded install

U know, looking at the pictures of your mods remind me how my wizairedhttp://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/110-Wizaired-Cold-Air-Induction-System.aspx intake was for my 99 GTP. They used a bare aluminum box with a plexiglass top and came standard with insulation lining in the box and on the tube.

So my Airaid is showing up on Thursday. Would anyone have any spare Reflectix/shielding or whatever you're using to upgrade the seal that you wouldn't mind parting with? I found the Reflectix on Home Depot's website but the smallest roll is 25 feet which I figure about 23 I'm gonna have no use for. The foam that Shoboat has listed in the how-to link doesn't seem to be available in the US which is kind of odd to me, but whatever, so I'm looking for that or the insulation that SHOnUup, looks like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-in-x-6-ft-Foam-Pipe-Insulation-ORP11812/204760805?N=5yc1vZbuy9Z402 would do the trick for me?

Anyways, I figured I'd ask before I bought anything so let me know.

You guys are going to a lot of work to make your aftermarket intake function like the stock one.

Don't hate me. Had to say it.

That will work, but if you have a Menard's around they sell the same stuff with an adhesive rubber strip that I found to be very helpful when installing.

Menard's is across the street, good lookin out! I just wanna be clear, you're only using the insulation to form the seal, no additional foam or anything else right? Sorry, I read the whole thread but it all kinda runs together.

Actually used a 1/2" x 1/2" square foam to act as the so called pipe it would normally wrap. Might be able to get away without, as mine fits pretty tight now. Good luck. Shoot any questions you have, slot to take in on this thread.

I also have some of the insulation left over you could use.
