I may have found a even better solution for heat insulation.

Most of the stuff on here can be expensive however there are applications that go beyond the Intake.

Very nice find. Some cool looking products there. Flexible ceramic shields and the clamp on heat shields look promising.

This one looks good, and not expensive http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/coolit.php

For a better alternative than the bubble type.

That seems to be a good price for a 2' x 4' piece. Wonder how the mylar side reflecting heat would effect raising temps on other stuff around it?

Don't know, I would assume that it would retain some of the heat. Only way to know for sure is to test it!

Ok everyone as I said I called Airaid on Thursday at lunch and yesterday the new seals came in the mail. I pulled the box today and am having my dad wrap it (he is retired and needs some projects lol. Thanks Pops if you are reading this) and I had him wrap his stock air box on his Ranger back in the day and it did wonders with IAT temp. I have asked this question before but still need some clarification. It seems that the shielding is used to reflect the heat away from the box so why is the inside being lined and not the outside. At a look it seems it will fit with the outside wrapped in the shielding. Just my two cents.Any advise and help is greatly appreciated

I personally didn't do the outside of box because I don't trust the adhesive on the insulation to stick for long under the high heat. I could be wrong in that assumption, but didn't want to risk something getting sucked into the fans.

I am going to use 3M trim adhesive. Spray it on the box and on the shielding let it tack up good the cover the seams with the aluminum tape. Then i will go from there. Thanks for the input.

I have tried insulating the exterior of CAI's in the past with mixed results. This is Cold Air Inductions CAI's

http://www.coldairinductions.com/catalog/product/gallery/id/88/image/439/

The also insulate the inside of the box. The clearance of the box to some of the hoses is really tight. Also with the barrier on the inside you don't have to contend with all that plastic once it becomes heat soaked.

Yes!...I actually am going to wrap the IAT sensor and the tube with reflectix and see what happens.

Sorry to hear. Hope she gets well soon. I know when one of the family gets the bug it's tough to keep it from infecting the "herd".

Yep. She's on the mend. Thanks guys. Just need to find some time to get back to the car. I did d do an experiment with the engine cover and not surprisingly IAT2 (top of intake) heat soaks faster and takes longer to cool down with it in place....
