Think I received the tall one right from the start. Mine definitely wasn't as small as that little one.

The small one is about 1 inch, the taller is about 1 and 3/4. The D is about 3/4 of an inch.

Has anyone find anything to modify after the intake box?

Any larger pipes, insulation, or thoughts on the idea.

I have a modded air box.  I cut a 3" hole in the side of the box and ran 3" flex pipe into the left front fender area.  The headlight makes it a tight fit, but you can do it.  I have my best times with this set up, but went to the Airaid intake, now playing around with this set up.

This one looks good, and not expensive http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/coolit.php

For a better alternative than the bubble type.

These links are some good ideas that aren't permanent. I keep thinking that wrapping the tubing only on the sides facing the block might be best. As to not cause it to hold more heat once it gets heated up.

I may have found a even better solution for heat insulation.

Most of the stuff on here can be expensive however there are applications that go beyond the Intake.

That article on the truck cai's proved your theory about the extra air duct.

Nice work!

Interesting, I will have to give that a try. But hold on didn't ecoboostsho try that and he said it worked better with the hole in the side plugged?

I did do it but thought temperature regulation was a little worse. That said it may provide more air which if Tue engine needs it may produce more HP. I plan on heading to the track soon to test both.

I would like to know what you find. In trying to figure out if my engine needs more air or if it is sufficient still.

Same here, we already figured out that more hot air really doesn't help at all.

I'll let Ecoboostsho give it a whirl first :) I don't want to cut up my Airaid unless I have to.

With the new and improved thermal insulation at track tonight she ran really good. Track was really poorly prepped and a DA of 2100 ran 12.8 all night (with the exception of 2 completely botched launches lol). With a best of 12.76. IAT even in a long line never got above 28C. Ambient was 21C. Unfortunately I couldn't replicate my 1.8 flat 60 tonight. I did run into a fellow SHO owner at the track SHOmance from the forum here. He didn't have his car with him unfortunately, next time for sure! We need a better SHOwing at the track ;). Kills on the night, Boss 302 (2X) a few other stangs. Took a ZO6 for 1/8 mile. Charger SRT8 and others not really worth mentioning. So now to move on to my next mod. Down pipes!

How about a small fan that fits the secondary inlet (wheel well access) that we can turn on when sitting.
