TIRE RACK?????

Picked up a set of Continental tires for my Explorer on Tire rack.they were on clearance for 99.00 ea,checked the 4 digit code in the tire,it said 3609,which tells me they were manufactured on 09/09,so almost 5 years old,by law the manufacturer cannot sell you a tire more than 5 years old.

I thought it was 6 years?  Never the less, what's the point if you have to replace them almost immediately cause they are too old?  It was just too good to be true. Complete FAIL on Tire Racks end.

6Yrs old is the rule for most places. And that's for sale not use. There is no 'expiration date' for tires.

A while back Sears tire service center was fined for selling tires more than 6 yrs old,i guess like everything else the laws vary by state.
