This is what you need to check for. The shaft exhibited a harsh vibration under half to full throttle for approximately 100 miles before it did this. I don't think you or anyone else can inspect for this. The spring system failed inside the cv cup which allowed the axle shaft to pop off of the intermediate shaft. If the spring system is failing internally but the retention clip is still holding the axle shaft on the intermediate splines, how in the world can someone inspect this. In my experiance, it takes a good deal of effort to separate them. So unless they are separating the splines and checking the CV cup's integrity during this inspection, I feel bringing your car in could be a waste of time. But that's just my opinion.
