ya and with that post with the pictures if its not them plowing engines whats making them to cut back on there tuning when they have cars on this forum with that power and no problems? and im sure theres other car that arent on here with that power from them as well couldn't be wrong just a guess because i don't know for sure.

Am I the only one that sees the obvious solution for those that really want to push the limits .

I know it's a lot of work but if you plan on ATP turbos why not invest in better durability by either using the upgraded LMS rods and pistons or the Carillo ones that are at EBPP ?

Either choice would make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ....

Guys I think of it as a warning...
For example...
Cigarettes- warning label- may cause cancer
Navigation warning- do not drive and adjust your touch screen
Heavy equipment- do not operate under the influence..

All these things are to protect the end user... Just a warning... Not a mandate or a absolution...
Not everyone will get hurt or sick.. And so on..
Can't we all get along now...lol

I hate to see people buy rods and pistons when there's a few guys out there from LMS own stable running 420-450 right now with no issues.
I should have blown my motor, I beat on it as hard as I could, even bought a second motor in prep for it blowing. I wanted it to blow! I didn't blow.
I know most haven't followed my footsteps but ATP's truck is at 500HP and been there for months, there's another truck making just under 500HP as well with no meth, no problems so far. Turbo Pete's truck 500ish HP with nitrous, no problems.
Of the people who have gone high HP I haven't seen them break yet, at least not that I know of.

I guess you must have. The why is the failure is consistent with over power. The piston show no signs of detonating no ring land fractures no scuffs. They also have a engine that has suffered the results of poor tuning. And the piston is melted, scuffed and has ring and ring land fractures and a hole in the skirt of the piston.

Also if you research these materials. You also find there capabilities are very consistent with the limits LMS is advising of.

Now with all this said nobody said you engine will fail at 450. This where they've seen failures. They don't not know the history of these cars. How hard they where driven. But more HP does equate to shorter engine life.

OK, I can live with that response. I hope to see MANY more high HP cars out there!
Good luck with your big builds boys!!

Got my car back from Livernois over the weekend after getting a custom tune for the following modifications:

Upgraded turbos with Garrett GTX billet compressor wheels and Turbosmart wastegates
..............
.......

I'll get around to scanning the dynosheet at some point.

Sorry about that I was the one who handed you the dyno sheet I simply printed the wrong one.

Thanks

I didn't start this thread to bash. I just posted up the info from my tuning. Yes, we agreed on 400ish and I did say I was disappointed in the TQ numbers. That is laid to rest now in that I simply received the wrong dyno sheet. I was told 395 / 413 was the final numbers but as the sheet shows that was incorrect and it is 443. I'm happy with that. That is what I had expected going to pick me car up. From seeing other cars I figured 400 hp / 430-440 tq, like I said in the original post. Now I see that's exactly where I'm at.

I was just gonna say that.  I tend to agree with what 4DR has to say, given his experience with the ecoboost platform. But the transverse and longitudinal ecoboost engines are not apples to apples.  I would expect the f-150's to handle more power.

That being said, why doesn't everyone chime in so we can get real data from real people?  Tell us your dyno numbers and what, if any, reliability issues you have experienced. Anyone out there actually blow up their motor?

Ok to borrow from another member earlier in the post, why do some people smoke for 40 years and never get cancer? And some 10 and do? Most don't last that long. Really is that so hard to understand? WhY are some failing stock and some seem to be holding 500hp? LMS didn't say they couldn't make the power, they just wouldn't advise it. If you want to shoot for 500hp go for and they will tune it. And then instead of pistons and rods they can build you a whole new motor if it fails. If anything what I read into this is that they are trying to protect their name and the consumer. If they started tuning engines with stock bottom ends and they start going boom what does that say as a company? This is called brand destruction . But in the end it's my ride and I will do what I want with it. Like Crash said earlier I can't really afford to build a new motor right now. But if I could I say go for it! Juice that sucker and see where she lands. Now that these motors have been around a while we will start to see benchmarks rise on what is considered safe and what is not. I have seen LS2s with stock bottom ends hold 600hp no problem. I also have a buddy of mine that had his replaced twice under warranty (2 completely different motors)

I just have to throw this out there;

I have owned and driven only Fords my whole life, with 1 exception. I have molded most of my Fords and driven ALL of them like I stole them. The only major issue I have ever had is with tranny's. Personally, on my SHO, I'd be more worried about the trans than the motor. I love my Ford's but they have trans issues.

THEY HAVE TUNED SHO'S ON THIS FORUM THAT HAVE 450ISH AND THEY ARE NOT BLOWING.......and know some one has highlighted and pasted a post for LMS and they are saying for that its from other shops... so if LMS hasn't lost a motor which i don't know yet because im not getting info from them yet.. this would be an other question for LMS why are you saying with your high power tune if there working for you and it getting done right. Im just one of you with answer for them
