I think it would be cool if a function could be built in similar to the old HKS scramble boost controller, or Ford's overboost function. I understand being conservative for longevity, but it might be a nice option to be able to override the base settiings for short periods of time.

IMHO that would be the best of both worlds.
Livernois actually has a tuner that will do this on the new Mustangs. This functionality would be such a nice option to have.

And here it comes, bashing time on LMS for doing nothing more than giving giving the customer the tune that he wanted and following up with their perspective on the matter. So let's just cut to the chase and have an administrator step in and shut the thread down prematurely as two opposing views can only exist for eight consecutive posts in this forum.

LOL am I the only one that thinks this is funny?
Please tell me that you understand the direction I was going with this as I don't think it was all that hidden?

What kind proof do you want? I am sure you don't want. We will tune car to 450hp and we told you so as proof. LMS has extended many invitations to there shop to offer proof to what they claim. And I am sure they will welcome anyone to come pay them a visit. I've been there I've seen the failures. And if they tell me that they are seeing failures in 450whp range. That proof enough for me, I can't afford to buy a engine right now.

IMO if owner and LMS agreed to tune car around the range that is stated then why was this thread even made by OP. Just saying .

Well crash I'm just asking what they are basing 400 on. Not "Proof " is it because they have seen more blown motors??  OK cool that's a good reason to wamt to be safe and warn customers.  It's all mostly guidelines anyways..  every motor is different. Lol. And I can't afford a new motor either.

I'm glad that's proof enough for you...but you have a history with LMS...and you have trust. To me, LMS is just another vendor...just like ALL the rest of the vendors on this site. Maybe it's my Sales background that makes me leery of any claim made by the same people that are trying to sell me the "solution", but if someone wants to tell me they're seeing routine failures in multiple engines and the common failure point is "X", it doesn't seem that difficult to me to take some pictures, or provide a detailed explanation of how you reached your conclusion scientifically.

It's just like in Algebra class. Just coming up with the answer isn't good enough. They've already done all the work...they just have to show it. That's all.

When Tracy from Rx first came around and he was making claims that not having a catch can, or fixing the PCV system was going to lead to intake valve coking, a CAC full of sludge, and possible vapor lock; it was just fine for everyone to ask him why he thought that...and he was happy to provide the info. But because of the tuner wars we've had here in the past, when someone asks LMS how their theory came to fruition, it's sacrilege.

Like on there post about the engine builds what is going wrong why are they blowing around 450 whp would you want to know?

Here is a write up with pics. Maybe some proof for you guys?

From LMS on that thread:
We are rebuilding several engines from different shops (No, we can't disclose who they are. And, we will not, to prevent a flame on any other shop.) across the country at the present time. A couple of these engines made over 450 WHP. One of the engines has no signs of detonation (rings, bearings and top of piston) and has a broken rod which in our opinion shows the power limit of the parts. Is it exact? No. But it's a great indication. When we see signs of melted pistons and heavy detonation (stuck rings, clear signs of detonation on top of piston) then the power limit doesn't come in to play. But the pics of the piston / rod we showed were a power limit problem.

ShoBoat, those pics are a great step in the right direction, but when you read their post from above it sounds more like these are their findings from ONE engine...not a trend of 450+ EcoBoosts.
We all know the EB engine has had a hx of stretching / snapping con rods, and a few have been documented and replaced here on this forum; no matter if they're stock or high HP...but finding another busted con rod doesn't necessarily mean there's a power problem.
I'm sure LMS has put more work into it than this one motor...I just want to know the details of what they've found.

A similar thread was posted by LMS on this forum today too. The pics it featured were centered on the new rods and pistons and less on the failures though. VIEW IT HERE

If 400 AWHP/AWTQ is the limit, why sell anyone upgraded turbos unless there was a failure of the stock units?

The stock turbos will support 400 AWHP/AWTQ, correct?

OK so since you can't discuss tuner. Can you tell us:
Vehicle type - truck, car etc.
Stock turbos or aftermarket?
87, 89, 91, 93 octane?
Meth or no?
What other mods? 3 bar, downpipes, intake etc.
This way the collective can understand which mod combo to be aware of that they are at the ragged edge.

The fact is you don't need LMS to tell you what these material used in our engines capable of. I simple google search of the capabilities of powered metal rods or cast pistons. Will provide you with hours of reading.

I must be missing something still Crash...

If I were there in person having my car tuned and they told me going over 450hp is likely to result in snapping a con rod, I would ask them "why".
What makes it a bad thing to do it here?

I'm in Michigan (west side) and will likely be visiting them over the summer for a run on the dyno...I'm not tuned, and I have nothing against them as a company. ...I just have questions...I thought that's why we were here?
