BigMac makes a damned good point about the 30 day thing .
I would argue that point respectfully and politely.
They will cave on it , just deal with the sales manager and not the service manager , down time at the Dealer should extend that window by however long the service Dept has it ... PERIOD
2013 SHO  ....  not mine anymore

Agreed.  The 30 day countdown clock has to be stopped while you are deprived of your car.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

SHO-down, if you like the car and everything else seems to be good, I would suggest you keep it and be pleased that you got the new PTU.   However, I am a little bit concerned about your description of the transmission behavior.  Are you having them check that out, too?

It would sure be nice to chat with the previous owner and get some history on the car.  Is it possible for the dealership to provide that information?  They might need to contact the previous owner and ask permission to provide that to you.  I would also ask the dealer to run the oasis report on the car.

I completely agree, I am going to make sure they account for my downtime. I picked the car up yesterday and it appears the howling noise I heard is still there so whatever they fixed didn't completely do it. I also noticed the car REAKED like burning transmission when I got home.  It was really bad when I got back home (rather fast ride home just to make sure everything was fixed). I notice the slight hint of trans smell after a long drive today. I'm taking it back tomorrow to have them look at it. So far not impressed. I absolutely love the car but these issues make me want to make them find me a different one.

I'm going to have them check the trans this time around, I'm about 90% sure I'm making them find me a different car. As far as the previous owner, he was an employee at the dealership I bought it from. He says he never had any issues and based on the service records he never had any major repairs done. So either he beat on it and I got the left overs or I just happened to find the one with problems.

Okay so quick update, decided to exchange the vehicle on a 14 tri coat white one. I am picking it up Monday. But I am stuck now, they have 2 I can chose from. One is a 401a with nav, driver assist and sunroof with the charcoal seats and accessory wheels (non-flower). The other is a 401a with nav, sunroof, suede seats (which I love), multi contour seats but no driver assist and it doesn't have the accessory wheels BUT it is $2k cheaper. I am torn. I like the driver assist but I rarely use my cruise so the ACC won't bring much value to me but may be more valuable when I sell it. The accessory wheels are nice but I for some odd reason really like the flower wheels. Part of me thinks "buy the cheaper one and buy new wheels for it". The other part of me thinks driver assist will bring more resale value and may be worth the extra cost as well as the fact it has wheels on it so I wouldn't need to change or at least for a little while...

What do you guys think? Driver assist worth it? Or should I go with the "lesser" model and slap my own wheels on it. Here are pics of the 2 cars. Basically the same other than wheels and driver assist (and of course the suede).

I'd go with the suede and non flower wheels, then use the extra cash for some mods right off the bat....lol $2000 will give you a nice head start for tune, intake, or exhaust....

Very true, although ford charges through the nose for the flower wheels and I figure I can get a better looking set aftermarket.

I'm not planning on modding this car other than wheels and tint. I have had way to many fully modded trucks and cars (trailblazer ss, Sierra Denali, 535i BMW, etc) in the past and I am pretty much over modding at this point.  After all the money I've spent on modded cars I could have bought a Bentley lol. I'm gonna leave this one to just cosmetics.

I would swing it into a Ford store and see if they can check to see how many times the ecu has been flashed. It may show/indicate the previous owner had modded the car and drove it hard?

The software a dealer uses can only tell if the OBDII has been accessed... like at autozone, any one of a number of OBD!! gauges, for previous service at Ford, et.c.... Ford can find a tune has been used, but it is special software to "see the ghost".

Not a bad thought... but honestly, why does anyone buy a SHO... they get driven....

Yeah I ended getting a brand new one. That car had some serious issues and I wanted nothing to do with them. As you mentioned above and something my brother said from the start "the guy didn't buy a SHO just to baby it".

So, I ended up doing what I should of done from the beginning and bought a brand new 2014 SHO. Loving it so far.

I have thought about doing a tune but I don't really want to void the warranty on a brand new car. Just gonna tint it and maybe slap some new wheels on it, although I do like the accessory wheels that came on it, I would prefer the PP style wheel.

thats awesome you got a new 14. I have your issues on the old car i think but to a lesser extent. I do get roll back/forward when i park maybe like 2-4 inchs its hard to tell. I havnt been using my parking brake which i do now and like how it keeps the car solid. When i switch gears from r n d then back again there is definitely sort of a clunk with the idle pull. I dont really have anything to compare it to. sometimes i get a humm but its only when the transmission is cold. I find there there is a jerk when the car shifts from 3-4 when cold. Once the cars at operating temp it runs awesome.

My next vehicle is gonna be brand new cause i hate fixing the cosmetic and not knowing how the cars been treated.
Im thinking 2016-17 F-150 with 3.5l eco or whatever the new sho is.

curry... be sure to use your parking brake... if you don't the car is held by a pin in the tranny instead of the brakes... not so good for it.
