PP on a SHO is where it is at and I do drive mine as a daily driver.

Actually, if I am getting a Used SHO... How will I be able to tell if its PP or not? I mean they are fast and heavy cars , so what are the tell tells? :o

Performance package has 20" wheels. However, they are an option on non PP SHO's. Best way to tell, for 2010 to 2012 at least, is the PP SHO's have a 'sport mode' and the advance trac can be turned completely off. Get in the car, turn it on, and press and hold the advance trac button for 5 seconds while parked. If it has PP it will say advance trac off.  To double check, push the button again to turn advance trac back on, the push the button twice quickly and it should say sport mode. Or you could ask the dealer for a copy of the original window sticker.

PP has no spare tire. If it has Interactive Cruise, it is not a PP. Two easy tells!

obviously the MKS does not have a PP otion, TSS assured me of that.

But, i can turn off 'Advance-Trac' on my car.  there is no 'sport mode' however.

what, does the 2010-12 MKS-EBs have some sort of hybrid system, or can any of the cars turn off adv-trac?

We can shut off traction control in the MKS.  And here is where it gets confusing:  When I turn traction back on, it indicates (Advance Trac On)...or something like that.  But I never get a message that indicates "Advance Trac Off" when I turn traction off.  So this winter I tried it in the snow - traction was definitely OFF, but Advance Trac kicked in when I kicked the tail end out  - so at least on my car, there is no way to shut off Advance Trac even though the message "Advance Trac On" gave me hope that it had been OFF at some point before.  :(  BUT like DRI indicated, only reason I would do that is to play in the snow.

Further confusion, after getting my LMS tune, I now do have a "Sport Mode" - did not have it before and it is there ONLY with the tune installed.  I uninstall the tune, go back to stock, the Sport mode disappears.  I think Bruce got the same feature in his MKS after getting the tune.    For no explanation, some get it when they load the tune, some don't. I basically throw the car into M mode, and instead of an "M" on the dash, I get a little car on a slant icon and it drives and shifts in an aggressive  Sport mode until you hit a paddle shifter - then you are in Manual mode....Sport mode locks out 6th gear too in the MKS, so not a great everyday tool for me.  Honestly it seems like more of a towing mode or hill assist mode, but a very long thread on the issue hasd everybody calling it Sport mode, so that's what I call it.

interesting...

when we got alot of snow in my area weeks ago, i experimented with the adv-trac.  with it off, i could do near 270 degree turns and the tail definitely would come out.  when i turned it back on, i couldn't do any 270's and the car would immeadiately brake or hault the gas when the backend stepped out of place.

also during this time, i got stuck in some very deep snow and i had to turn the adv-trac off to get out (i think it was off, might have been the other way around).

wierd; obviously all of these mechanisms are computer controlled and a matter of programming.  it all seems somewhat arbitrary, all these cars seem capable of doing the same things...

Even more confusing, some people who got a tune have a grade assist mode that lights up when the car is shifted into M or S depending on year...but some don't have it...mine doesn't do it, yet cars built only 10 days after mine do.....And some cars have it without being tuned....so even more head scratching stuff, since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether its a PP or non-PP equipped car.

LMS can add it to your tune or remove it from your tune. I don't think they consider it mysterious.

Yeah no kidding man, all cars are doing the same thing with different bodies and different price tags and for what reason? lol

Even the SHO body looks like a few different cars which do similar to the same things as the SHO  "DO" ( Not same performance). Actually picking the SHO was a REALLY REALLY tough choice.... I have not desired a car since 08 when I really wanted my SRT-4. SHO was the only car that I seen that was giving me that feeling. :P

Well it was down to an EVO or an SHO...

Depending on your age, get the SHO. Like you stated earlier not many people have them and that is a big one for me. Evo's, Sti's  are all over the place and mostly for kids in there 20's, maybe early 30's.
The SHO is first class, fun ride that people go...."what the #$@^ was that....a Tuarus?!?!
Especially when you de badge it like I did. Mine just says Taurus and thats it. Super comfy on long trips, fast, fun....the perfect package! Shssshh...don't tell very many people about this car, keep it on the down low. Love mine so much, I have two.

Agree... first class big, comfortable, but quick ride in the SHO!  Also agree with it being fun as a sleeper... except for the side vents there's no badges at all on mine.... folks are frequently craning their necks trying to see what kind of car it is.... especially at the light after my big girl eats them!  Fun to be in a fairly unique ride!

And to clarify, when I said "Sport mode", that's the same thing Mark is referring to as grade assist, which I honestly think is a better description.  Some (many) call it Sport mode, so I just call it that too. Grade assist is a more accurate description.  End result however is that 6th gear is locked out, shift points are higher, etc....  So...car feels a little snappier (all perception IMO) , but my 0-60 numbers show no real difference.

DRI:  you can shut off Advance Trac, I cannot fully defeat. I have Sport/Hill assist, do you have that? Shift car into M mode, if you see a car on a slant/hill icon on your DIC, you have it.  If no little car on a slant icon, you don't.

These cars are a b*tch to find used... Uhhg!!! Its like they aren't even available in California!

To be honest guys it may take me all the way to next year to find an SHO. Honestly I am willing to go 2013 for a greater chance at landing a PP ...I really have low hopes, they have  Charger R/Ts up the ying yang but these SHOs like don't exist at all...
