I have $400 budgeted for brakes. Here are my options:

-OEM brakes for $325

-power stop kit from auto anything for $390

-OEM rotors and EBC yellow stuff pads for $410

Keep in mind they will be installed by me so I want an OEM fit and easy install.

When I do brakes, I am hoping all I need to do is Pads.  Probably Red Stuff but maybe Hawk.  If I need rotors, will probably do OEM but haven't looked at other options yet.

Did a quick search for auto anything coupon codes.
Looks like this one is good for 16% off. Maybe that will help with your decision.

I afraid OEM rotors will not be able to handle a more aggressive brake pad compound. They can't handle the OEM pads as it is right now.

But more aggressive pads on stock rotors, isn't going to last very long.

I agree with Chris, I think you would be better going with EBC rotors and pads.  If you haven't budgeted enough to do both front and rear, I would do them one at a time.  Fronts would be my first choice and then the rears. Also I would suggest changing out the brake fluid when you get both done..I've seen several recommendations that brake fluid should be completely changed every 2-3 years.

man i cant wait for the 13+ to get some better options.. Right now im considering this same question only because i want better brake performance.. I had the power stop stuff on my Grand Prix GXP and i thought for a street driven car they did very well.. So im leaning on one of there kits or just buying hawk pads.

Thanks for the info, and coupon codes. Unfortunately I am on a tight budget and if I want To have any chance of breaking into 12's I gotta stick to that budget.  I think I'll go with power stop.

Are the ebc stock replacement rotors better?

Is this the same setup you have?
Ive read you like it and have had it for a few years...
hows dusting? Has the coating lasted as far as corrosion is concerned? I painted my stock hats black and its held up great.

Im really wanting to do something... my stock brakes have never given me trouble besides a rare squeak when cold.
No noise or vibration to speak... now have 40k miles.

I was gonna wait till stock pads were toast seeing ive had no problems.
But... a few weeks ago I was doing about 40 and smashed the brakes, and I found that the car never even induced abs. Can it really be my tires have more traction than my pads?
So in light of that im looking for a basic upgrade.

The narrow slotted ebc rotors with green pads seems the most practical. I dont wanna completely ruin it with drilled and slotted

had the ebc phase 4 slotted rotors w/red stuff pads for over 9 months. i'd wait till you got the budget to do. the big girl needs some good brakes to stop her & if she's a DD like mine slotted is a good choice,
