Sounds like the perfect setup. Now to see if I can find a 170 locally. Do not want to put this one back in.

Just tested tstat again. It starts opening(at least what I could see) at 162*, opened about 3/8"(maybe 7/16") at 210*. Gonna throw stock on in see how it acts.

Should I de-tune?

Well after putting stock TS back in and following the previous posted steps by the "Man (u)", I'm still confused.

Filled up the res. first and squeezed hose and it sucked in about 2" out of res. Went through the process and car would hover at 194* during long idle(as it did before I had to check the damn jiggle valve).

Took it for a ride and as I gave it throttle temps would go down to low 180's and when letting off back up to 196 and then a gradual cool.

But the hose on driver side (tstat side) returning to radiator didn't seem half as hot as other hose leaving the radiator?

Heat and a/c normal.

Did you ever flush out your coolant system and is it original, they usually recommend changing your coolant every three years or so,you could have a blockage, clogged radiator causing it to overheat, the best way to perform this is by seeing if half of the radiator is cold and other half is hot, those are symptoms of a clogged radiator.

Hasn't been flushed I bet, bought used. Sounds like a good idea, and that should push any air out to.

This should not be the case at all, unless coolant is being circulated in the reverse direction OR the lower hose is being subjected to heat from an external source such as an exhaust or turbo component.

If cooling system behavior is otherwise restored to normal, I'd not worry about it any longer, other than to keep an eye on coolant levels in the overflow tank/degas bottle.  And yes, a cooling system flush should clear out any lingering evildoers.

AFter reading thorugh this....I noticed something stragne last night. My coolant temps would get into the 200's and when sitting idle and when I gave it throttle, it would drop back down. I have seen it a few times when it gets into the 200 range but never lasts for very long...Something I should be worried about? Last night it go as hot as 212 while at idle.

As you are aware with any tune to make sure to gap your pluga at 0.30 and LMS always recommends a new stat and a 3-bar map if you want some more pep and boost and then get a revised tune and they can adjust your fans accordingly for cooler temps, good luck.

How long were you idling when you got to 212?  What were the ambient temps?  How far does the temp drop back down when giving throttle?  Coolant levels OK?

Sounds like you have a stock TStat, correct?  Nothing to worry about at this point, I think, other than to make sure your plugs are gapped at 0.030, like ZSHO said.  A cooler TStat with an adjusted tune to turn fans on sooner will also be beneficial to coolant temps.

It was about 9 at night, temps were still about 78 out, but humid.  Ambient was about 80, IAT was between 100-120. I was in a lot of stop a go traffic. But I have been in worse and not seen the coolant temp get that hot. I have seen it get that high when it was 90 and sunny. But never at night time like that.

Stock Tstat and stock plugs.

How long have you had the K&N CAI,the car looks sweet.

Did you have accessories like AC running at the time?  As IAT rises, a case could be made that radiator efficiency also decreases (less thermal gradient available), which would allow coolant temps to get higher and make the fans run longer.

Of course, plant/animal matter stuck in radiator fins wouldn't help either :)  A periodic gentle hosedown after a soak in degreaser recommended to keep airflow optimized.
