"How to" T Stat Install-DJE624

ZSHO...I have had the K&N for about a month or so. I love the sound. Thank you sir....

SHOdded.....There were no accessories running at the time...Only the radio. All the windows were down. I did notice something else yesterday. The resevoir for the brake fluid looked empty and there was residue on the outside of the resevior. Every see anything like that on yours.

I did just wash my car a few days earlier and I don't remember seeing anything stuck....I'll check.

How did you check the fluid in the brake reservoir?  Open the cap, or shine a light through the body, etc?  It's hard to tell easily (at least for me) from the outside because the plastic is so thick, and the MAX/MIN lines are not marked in a contrasting color on the Edge.

Anyway, it should only be "empty" if you have put a lot of mileage on the brakes and the pads are ready to be replaced, or there is a leak in the brake lines somewhere.  You should also notice a decrease in braking performance.  If it is indeed low, you can try filling up to the MAX line again, and watch it to see what happens.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I should have opened it yesterday when I saw the residue on the outside. I opened it today and how about that, it was full.

The coolant temp thing is still bothering me. Again today, temps got into the 200's again. But they would go down. Anything I should worry about?

And sometimes during traffic jams.....

And sometimes when I'm running the piss out of her for extended periods...

So I'm not sure you have anything to worry out.

WickedSHO your best bet as mentioned in an earlier post would be to call or email LMS about your issues you are having and see if they can send you a revised tune so the fans come on more frequently,if not you might have to upgrade the t-stat to a 170 or 160 that LMS sells.

With fans reprogrammed for the cooler Tstat I don't see 200 degrees in traffic here in Phx with ambient temps approaching 120 degrees.  But the fans do run a lot!

Didn't have any time to test mine yesterday. But before this I never saw temps over 194* and it would hover in the low 190's as the regular operating temp. Thought adjusting the jiggle valve would drop it a few degrees, oops.

Little update. Cars hovering right at the same temps with stock tstat. But this is in temps that are 30* cooler than it was with 160 tstat. Talked with LME and they said that the jiggle valve does not require a certain position to work properly, and only on some vehicles does the gasket have a small notch in it that needs to be lined up properly.  They highly suggested the kit for burping the cooling system (funnel that screws onto rad).

Interesting!  So do you plan to check the gasket/tstat housing?  Funnel?

Thinking the gasket and housing is fine, looked over it alot. LME linked me a video on the how to with the funnel (burp) set up. Was the type of stuff I was seeing in my searches. Guy in video also jacked his car up. Think there's a small pocket of air in there still, and will find the funnel set up. $23 shipped from eBay was mentioned.

That's where I originally found some good how to's. Thx for the add, the posted step by step by the "MAN (U)", are right on par also. Instead of starting and stopping motor you just run with spill free.
