PTU oil change write up?

I just got quoted $200.00 (Ford dealer) for PTU change/service.  What is everyone else paying?

i was just quoted $56 per differential by Sears Auto Center...

I seriously doubt if Sears understands the PTU in your MKS and I would be surprised if they have ever changed the gear lube in one.  Are you sure they aren't talking about differentials and transfer case on a 4X4 pickup?

my deaer quoted $130. I think but not sure if that was including the BG flush.

i told them the make and model of the car.

i'm going there this weekend, if there is an issue i'll let the forum know.

i think i'll also insist on them collecting the old fluid for me to take home...

under my SHO now and I located the drain plug is there any pictures of the fill hole ??

Hey 68 I was under there last night also and it should be on the pass side of the PTU. I'll be honest I couldn't find it also lol. I did locate it easily on our Explorer (pass side about half way up the case). There is a write up with pics but it didn't help me when I was under the car. Maybe someone else that has done it on a PP can shed some light.

Here is the ford parts diagram, not much help. The drain plug and the breather is on there but not the fill plug.

shoot no..... not until the fill is located.

I might just thrown in the town and pay the deal for it. Stinks to pay an extra $100 becasue I can't figure out how, or where to refill it !!!!!

the fluid change might be easier if I just took out the pass side down pipe maybe the turbo and maybe the CV axel, and several other things I have not clue what they are. It's crazy in there.

68gt be VERY careful with your car on ramps like that. It could easily roll backwards and fall off the ramps. Even with the emergency brake on.
Park another car behind yours pretty close just Incase it does decide to roll backwards.

I don't get under my cars much at all whille on stands period now days I only put it like that to get the car basically level with the front tires off in hopes that I could get the PTU fluid level to drain / fill. When I get partially under, or reach under etc I never touch the car, or wrench while under it, or let anyone touch the car. I also keep my big floor jack under there not pushing up, but just up to the car for extra holding.  And of course yes the e-brake is on. I only planned on looking around in the wheel well, so I give up. Thanks for looking out !
