Hey guys, so I'm finallllly going to be tuning the car in the next few weeks and will also be doing some maintenance all at the same time. Along with the tune ill be doing the following:

bar sensor
thermostat
new spark plugs
trans service
ptu service
turbo clamps

My question is other than the mentioned things is there anything else you guys thing I should address or take care of? And what do you guys think about tuning the car at this many miles. Just wanted to get some input on opinions. Thanks guys!

I think the tune is fine... just beware a stretched timing chain as this is a known occurrence in our cars and the tune may unmask it. The tune will put a "permagrin" on your face... it made me want to drive to work, LOL.
I would service the rear diff/drive unit, check the boots on the drive axle links, and service the tranny also.  do any updating of the APIM before you tune just to keep it simple. I also would replace the t-stat with a 160-170 degree also, but maybe that's what you meant in the list.

I'm at 66K on mine, getting a tune soon, is there anything I should look out for with the timing chain? Any tell tail signs? Also, if it is stretched, what can I do about it?

THanks,
Nick

With a stretched timing chain, mostly you are looking for any "abnormal" clicking/knocking sounds underhood.  Normal sounds include an occasional startup ticking from the oil filter (should last only 1-3 seconds at startup, if at all) and clicking from the fuel injectors (sounds like a diesel).  Your vehicle will also seem to have power loss and/or rough running.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

2nd the motion on rear diff

Maybe a check inside the CAC for fluid.

Coolant system flush

Anyone else weary of a transmission "flush"? My mechanic swears against them, as they push everything back through the filter catching whatever debris, to be then forced back through the system all at once.

Regular trans fluid changes will always be >>> than a trans flush.  This "lifetime" concept invented by the manufactures with their sealed casings & filters makes it all the more important to do the fluid changes.

If you really planning to keep the car and why not, would also do a basic tuneup like pcv, clean all the sensors ,IAT,MAP SENSORS with some maf cleaner, also for peace of mind while doing the stat and flush, change the radiator hoses, while your in the same area, also check the spark plug boots for any excessive wear, good luck.

must echo to check the CAC (IC) for accumulated liquid.... it's known to happen and it WILL break your turbos if they get a gulp of liquid. Lots of articles here and horoscope pics of it.
