What mods are done to the vehicle?

What's typical day in the like of your SHO?  I'd have hoped any design flaws would have been worked out by 2013MY.  I would not say I baby mine, and hit the highway about 4-5 mins after a cold start for a 50 mile@80mph commute.  I changed my PTU fluid only once (so far) at about 90K and that I was "way ahead" since FMC does not recommend servicing this.   Hopefully your warranty experience will help them issue a TSB for this preventive soon.

I'd say I'm pretty easy on my car. I don't go above 75% throttle until its fully warmed up, and I've never tracked the car before. Of course I open it up once in awhile but most of the miles on the car are highway just cruising to and from work.

I got the car back last night, a day earlier than they originally quoted. They replaced the entire PTU assembly and a valve assembly vent. Everything seems fine so far, but Ill put it through its paces this week and see.

Just something to think about, since the work was done at a Ford dealer, I guarantee they used the motorcraft gear oil used from the factory... Not saying it is "bad" stuff, but we have all seen what it can potentially look like after 30k miles. You might want to get in there and change it out with something more tried and true before it starts to burn and gum up again! I have done quite a bit of reading on the subject and it seems that Amsoil Extreme Gear Oil scores highest consistently in the areas that our PTU's need (burn resistant, high pressure loads).
I just changed my PTU oil out and replaced it with the motorcraft stuff, but on my next oil change Im going to do it again with amsoil, just giving it a chance to dissolve some of the gunk and delute the crud so I can get as much out before putting the good stuff in!

I was pleasantly surprised when I had my PTU oil changed in Dec '14.  I had the dealer save the fluid cause I wanted to see it.  Car had 33,000 when it was changes and over 100 passed at the track the year.  Fluid wasn't gummed up, and they said didn't smell burnt.  I replaced fluid with Royal Purple.  So we will see by the end of the year.  I would run yours for a year and then change it out to a better quality fluid.

Just curious, why keep it in there for a year instead of immediately swapping it out for superior stuff now?

I had 3 track days 42k on the clock, no issues to report. Tend to drive the car harder than most people. Plan on draining the PTU fluid this spring, for peace of mind. Hope all is well on your replacement.
