CAC Temps Don't Drop w/Meth?

My logs aren't showing a drop in CAC temp.  I know i'm spraying, I'm on my 11th revision and Torrie even said there's no way we would be where we are with the tune if not.  I'm just not sure what gives, any ideas?

I'm not a meth expert, but I don't think it would lower CAC temperatures as you are spraying it after the CAC.  It should lower cylinder temps, but not anything before the nozzle.

CAC temp is measured pre TB IIRC.

Ambient temp is measured in the bumper I think

IAT= is the airbox temp sensor

CAC temp=is the temp at the TIP sensor between the intercooler and throttle body. It's incorporated in the tip sensor.

IAT2= Temp in the intake manifold. It's incorporated in the MAP sensor....Or the TIP sensor that you put in your MAP location for you 3 bar guys.

You need to log IAT2 since the CAC temp won't see your meth

This is also why the argument between Mdesign and Airraid seems to be irrelevant to me.....I had 160 degree IAT2 while idling and when I opened my hood the temp did not change....So even if one intake lowered IAT1, by the time the air goes through the engine and hot, ineffective intercooler then the heat soaked intake manifold the air will be heated to how warm the motor is.....We really need a front mount intercooler

Beat me to it. Look at IAT2 and you will see it around ambient on meth, and much higher than ambient when on a 93 tune. As AJ pointed out to me the car looks at IAT2 and will pull timing when it is hot, the meth will cool the temp in the manifold and allow you to run more timing among other benefits.

Excellent description.  I've had some one tell me the same but i had also seen others logging CAC's lower.  I also don't know how to add IAT2 to my configuration.  Would you be willing to send me yours?  I'm SCT/Torrie tuned.

It probably depends on where they are mounting the spray nozzle for the meth injection.

The CAC temp sensor is between the intercooler and throttle body.  If the nozzle is mounted far enough back, I would think the CAC temp sensor would pick it up.  However, if the nozzle is mounted after the CAC temp sensor or is mounted near the same location and the mist is passing by on the other side of the tube, it would not pick up the cooler temp.

Can you post a pic of your injector nozzle area?

I don't think I've seen a picture of the nozzle on the intake tube.  I'm curious where people are putting them.

just inches from the TB in the plastic elbow.

I watch my CAC during normal driving to make sure the meth is working correctly... it jumps down immediately when the meth turns on.
What really counts is your IAT2 for data-logging and performance.

It was 108 outside yesterday... CAC 140/IAT2 160.  They went well below ambient(85) after a few seconds of spray.

That's a good description for where the CAC temp sensor is.  I could see that it may or may not pick up the spray depending on the exact mounting location.
