AEM WMI Install

I attempted to do this a little differently.  I bought the MDesign intake so i could have an under hood set up that didn't require using and manipulating the windshield washer tank.  The whole process still took me 11.5 hrs start to finish, 2 trips for extras included.  I'm not sure how to insert pics by link and describe each step so apologies for the sloppy post.

First I started with the tank and pump.  The tank required one hole to be drilled in the intake mounting bracket which worked out perfectly.  The other was a small hole in the plastic out of sight on the other side and secured with a zip tie.  The hose to the pump went discretely in a slot in the fender well and the pump i mounted behind the driver side fog light to the fender well.  I added the optional filter between tank and pump also.

The controller went in the glove box.  I ran the wiring behind it down and drilled a hole under the kick panel.  The hole location was one of my 2 slight mishaps as it was too close to where the kick panel snaps in.  I got lucky and the other piece snapped in securely to it and didn't make much of a mess.  Where i drilled there was a hole already on the under side i ran the boost source and wiring down through then fished it up with a clothes hanger along side some AC lines and secured with zip ties.  The pro tip is lots of loom, wrap the wires, i wanted everything safe and stealth.  Wrapped in loom it went over the brace in the back of the hood over to the battery and fuse pannel.  Positive and negative on the batt and I used an add a fuse and added it to a 10a (92-93 i believe) that was powering the ABS module, i figured that had power all the time when the car was on, it worked.  Also ran the wires to the pump down the same hole the plumbing went down, all out of sight.  The LED status light wrapped under the other side of the glove dox and set in the slot aside the console and dash.  It reports status and low fluid level.

The boost source was a PITA and redneck engineering at its finest.  The supplied hose was tiny and the factory source was huge in comparison.  Took two reducers to make it work but pic attached whats been done before.

The nozzle was last and the hose from the pump went under the car and over then up a similar route as the wiring to be taped fairly inconspicuously.

Over ask the kit was great.  I set it up , tested it with water and flushed the system with no issues.  The key is going slow and making sure everything is done right the first time.  Questions welcome.

Nice Job, now I have an idea of how to get some wires into the glove box LOL. I have the Snow Stage two and mounted the controller in the engine bay up against the passenger side strut tower. I used the washer tank for more stealth. I also blacked out the controller so it looks like something factory. Like you I covered everything in the same wire loom used from the factory. Here is a pic of where I tapped my boost source. Under the engine cover coming off the boost controller, its all covered up so you cant see it. I was able to find a tee with different sized ends that worked with a bit of convincing.

How do you have your pump oriented? wires facing up or down?

Pump wired are facing down.  I thought about taping the boost source there but I didn't know which line in the EBCS I needed to do.  Wish I would have seen this earlier, lol.  My controller per AEM had to be mounted in cabin, not waterproof so it was a must for me.

Thanks man, I had no idea how rare it was when I bought it but I love it myself.  I sent Torrie my first log and everything was ok.  I went with the 1000cc nozzle but pit the max on the controller at 25 psi so the progressive rate wouldn't over flow.  Everything looked ok according to him and I flashed my new tune tonight.  Let the logging begin.

Yeah I just assumed coming off the charge pipe was the way to go. The snow controller isn't waterproof, but the location I mounted it doesn't ever get wet. It does say in the manual that it can handle the heat in the engine bay.

Wires down is best considering the water I found in my pump. Using the washer tank I had to get the pump low so mine is mounted wires up.

Best of luck with the tune, Torrie will have that thing running like a beast after 8 or so revisions! Don't stop until he says it's done, he didn't start adding timing until 5 or 6 revisions and that is where you could really feel the added torque!

Thanks for the write-up!  I like this way this turned out.

If it's not too difficult, could you put the measurements of the tank?  It looks like its a tight fit on the width (between body and MDesign intake) and depth (top to bottom), but height has some play (front of car to battery).

Thank you!  How did you even do that?  I wouldn't mind turning some on the OP as well.

With the AEM style tank it was tight there.  I did have to cut a small tab out of the factory plastic under there to make it flush.  Other style 1gal tanks may be easier.  I may could measure it tonight but it would likely only help a little, it's slightly awkward in there for exact specifications.  Just know it will work lol.
