2013 w/45k. got about 15 miles or so away from work (70 miles each way), and as I was accelerating off the on ramp up a hill, the car started to shudder, and cel started flashing. I pulled to break down lane and shut the car off. would not restart. changed to a different tune. car eventually started, but ran like crap. shut it back off. had aaa pick me up and tow me to work (tasca ford). reinstalled the original map sensor, and returned to stock. car started, but ran rough. cel on, but not flashing. xcal gav me codes p0087 and p00c6, both lean bank 1. I have esp, and it should be covered.... googled the codes while waiting, and common fuel issues on these are bad fuel delivery module, bad fuel pump, and leaking injectors. I am straying away from the injector since it was a lean code, not a rich code. hopefully I get the car back soon.

Car saves itself, but the experience can be a nasty jolt for the driver/owner.  Hope you get it back 100% and pronto!

There may be HPFP involvement in this case.

FO SHO had a P00C6 and P0302 caused by a fuel injector issue.  So looks like solving the P0087 will be the "lead" symptom.

i ASSUME they won't deny esp because of a tune? I don't see how it's related. car has been returned to stock, but I know they can check.

They prob won't dig that deep except in the event of a spectacular catastrophic failure, probably IF it makes it up to Ford engineering.

I had the same issue over the summer also going up a hill coincidentally (2013 w/30k). Ended up being a faulty fuel delivery module. Basically the in tank pump.

tech diagnosed it as a bad fuel injector. it has been ordered for tomorrow.

I hate it as much as the next guy when a dealer will try to deny some warrenty work because of some mods....but to assume they wont because of a tune is as dumb as it gets...there are so many things that can cause problems with bad tuning..

You really need to ask yourself if you are prepared to handle the cost of unforeseen repairs on a car with warrenty remaining when u hit the program button on your favorite tuning device

We have increased performance numbers to a rediculous amount with your average 3 bar tune..something like 25% more hp and at least 40% more torque..so its really rediculous to say you assume they wont or cant deny warrenty...

We have really put the dealers in a hard place...we expect them to decipher whether  or mot OUR mods have caused a problem which was never supposed to be their job....glad ur car is getting fixed but is it lossible your tune over working the injectors didnt cause them to have a malfunction?...trust me i hate sticking up for dealers

I heard from the writer, not the tech, so I don't know. ford knows this is an issue, as the part has been updated to a new part number. in my opinion, I believe all 6 should be replaced under the premium care warranty so I don't have to pay $100 every time the rest of them fail.

Yeah, I hope this is the one & only injector that fails!  I doubt it is the tune's fault, though it would be easy to support the belief that under stock conditions, it would have taken the injector longer to fail.  Built Ford Not-So-Tough.

Maybe you have a lemon lol...kind of a stretch to say for know its an issue...ive seen a few bad injectors but not many considering how many sho cars are out there...you realize that a 3 bar tune taxes the s*** out of the injectors right

Id say blame bosche then

If its a fuel delivery module,fuel injectors,hubs,thrust washers,its predominantly a 2013 SHO That are affected unfortunetely.  Z

i'll be happy just to have the car back and working. if they only want to do the defective injector, so be it. I'm not upset, just trying to save money down the road.

When the #6 injector went on (not mine anymore) car they did all 6 injectors and did all the spark plugs really cheap too. They also replaced all the fuel rails because they are only one time use I think
