JOE SHO

Greetings!

New to list. I had a 95 SHO until 1998 got a buick regal gs in 99.  Mustang gt next, dodge Magnum rt and currently my favorite of all my cars 09 G8 gt. The G8 does everything I need, decent milage, looks, mean beastly v8 with all bolt on mods. Basic bolt on mods like Kooks headers X pipe high flow cats and Magnaflow straight through mufflers. At track car went 12.58@109.78 best, a 12.70 and 3 times in a row 13.00 all in one night, only time it was at the track.  Many mods later like performance rebuilt trans with extra red Alto clutches, lightweight fly wheel and CircleD 3000 rpm stall, Yella Terra 1.85 roller rockers and UDPs. But not been to track since. It also has a full suspension of FE3 struts and shocks, BMR, Lovell's and white industry poly bearings and parts. Car has been awesome. I also loved my SHO but it was slow, even after some mods. However the newer SHOs I have been watching since I heard the new ones in 2010 were coming out. Until now I really worried about my car as it is unreplacable in my eyes. And nothing I could afford interested me that I could replace it with. Made me worry about it since I really love it. I been waiting on the SHO s reliability while I enjoyed my G8.
Now I have some miles on the car and have a need to travel. I started researching for what I want in a SHO or new car. Only two cars that excite me are the new 2016 camaro ss and I thought the new 2016 or 17 lightweight 9 speed SHO.  Now I heard that's  a bust and good idea to grab a regular 15 or 16.
I know what I want and what I will spend when ready.
Probably a low milage used 2011~2016.
White or black possibly blue.
Don't need the pp. Would be nice but the 19 ' s and less weight and less thing to go wrong might be quicker or more reliable. Plus I know 19 inch tires well from the G8....
Will add $1500 in mods, installation is taken care of.
I would like to keep 85% reliability,  and not totally kill gas milage.
Our track is 1/4 mile,  Atco...though I would run it once before n after probably not again in its lifetime.
We race here a bit and it is usually a 0 to 70, or 80 most.
Most driving would be on rural roads, then highway, little city driving.
I would want the car to run 12.20 on its best day but avg mid 12's consistently.
Looking at Livernoise tune & programmer, plugs, 3 bar, lower thermostat, meth injection. Custom by Joe gutted dry fiber Amsoil filter airbox. Underdrive pulley if applicable. Not interested in expensive loud droning aftermarket exhausts.  If downpipes end up being the clog perhaps coated downpipes and high flow cats much later, not in my original  $1500 in first mods.
Tell me what you think, all relevant comments appreciated.   Would those mods be close to achieving my goals.thanks for any responses.

Member geswek ran 12.5 @ 112 at Cecil in the cooler months with tune/cai/corsa (mods in video descp.). Should be no problem at those East Coast tracks that are at sea level.

Will need meth and down pipes to get low 12's, high 11's.

I'd think the downpipes should be on the list with meth, or meth & downpipes after the first package. Pretty sure they crank up the boost on the meth tune and those stock downpipes could hinder air flow.

I'm at a best of 12.40 without meth and looking to go a little lower here in the next few days.

I was out at Cecil last night, raced a white 13+ that ran a 12.6.. Tune, thermo, dps, cai, 3 bar pretty sure. Talked to him a little, didn't catch his name though. He asked if I was geswek. So I am guessing he was a member on here.

Sadly the legend didn't follow to Florida. I'm afraid to see what times I run down here LOL.

I'd be happy with a 12.7 on a e20 tune

Yep, that's me.  That was this car's first couple runs at the track.  Think there is 12.5's in her easy.  My black '12 worked to get its 12.69 run, but yes, doesn't take my work to get these cars into the 12's.  I think I have about $2100 in all the mods I have on this car, including installing the DP's and oil cooler on the '12.  I have all these mods.  LME V8 tune, LME catted down pipes, 160 Tstat, 3rd cat delete, Dynomax mufflers.  I didn't go with cat back exhaust cause of the price.  Hopes this helps.
2013 white Gen 5.  Gearhead Intercooler, Turbosmart wastegate actuators, Alky Controls meth kit, Livernois catted downpipes,  Livernois Corsa cat back black etched tips.  2016 True Street Champion.
